I've seen a few comments posted about Cuban Pete's avatar (check it out before reading on!) , so I thought I would share the following.

A few years ago I was reading a book about the famous classical piano composers, but the book focused on what they were like as performers rather than as composers. Apparantly Franz Liszt was regarded as quite the sex symbol among his female fans. Also, he played piano while smoking a cigar on stage.

Apparantly one night he tossed his used cigar butt into the audience after the performance, and the ladies all dove for it. The woman who ended up retrieving it boasted later that she had placed it in her cleavage and hadn't remove it for a month!

I don't remember the title or author of this book, but it was filled with fun tidbits like this. As far as I remember, this was the only one that was cigar related.

Well, Cobra...it was the 19th century, so probably not quite like that! lol

I imagine it was a bodice-and-corset type of thing.

I enjoy his music as well.
If I correctly recall what I read, Liszt was also a very good performer, which was not the case with all composers.

He was also very vain. Before him, pianists performed with the piano oriented on stage so that the pianist faced the audience. But Liszt wanted to display his profile! And now it is standard for the pianist to sit with his/her side facing the audience.

Wow, I did not know that!

I guess that's something not everyone thinks about. Just because you're a genius composer / writer doesn't guarantee that you can even play an instrument!

I can't see how that avatar is any more or less offensive than a lot of avatars on this site. Nothing is being shown, as far as anatomy. I actually liked the avatar. I think I might find a nice pic like that and change mine too.

BTW, I still have the cigar from that picture. It stunk like perfume after the picture, so I couldn't smoke it. I guess I should just throw the damn thing away as I'll never smoke it.

It's sitting in a separate bag in a drawer somewhere not getting to play with all of his Tatuaje friends! LOL!
