Brooks that is an awesom play.

i have a bunch of "rare" cigars but not really cause im trying to save them for a special time but because, when i got into smoking i had a bunch of sticks that i got from samplers and sticks that i tried and liked and got more of but where not super premium or rare and as i started to research more and know what is supposed to be good or sought after i would pick up what i can when i can. But i didnt want to smoke it for lack of knowledge of different type of leaf and blends. So now i have a humi full of my "rare" smokes that i burn at Herf but on a regular i am still trying to burn through all my "regular" sticks before i get to any of the "rare".

Smoke 'em up! There's more to be had out there. I smoked my 2nd to last Frank last week and sent my last one out to someone this week with full expectation they will smoke it soon. I'd much rather say I smoked a Frank in it's prime than show somebody a 5 year old Frank from my humi.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooo, I got pissed, bombed some guys and started smoking what I wanted... when I wanted. Just like HD, there are still some special smokes in there, but I'm no longer waiting for that "planet aligning" moment. Since then have burned Opus maduros, Avo 22s, SB#1s, Tat Blacks, and a myriad of other amazing smokes just on principle.

I really don't have many "rare" cigars and the majority of those i recieved from fellow BOTL. Cigars are meant to be smoked not stored away forever. but like many here i have a plan for when to smoke my rare smokes. for me it around the holiday's when all family (some who i haven't seen in years) come by and sit and talk and catch up on what's going on, relive the old days. Just going to open my "private stock" humi and let them pick out what they like. I get first pick of course. Sure i didn't get to smoke it but i will now have a life long memory of good food, drink and smokes with cherished family members. which is worth much more than any cigar.

I'm in agreement with a lot of the latter posts: smoking that special cigar is the special occasion itself. A great cigar sort of justifies itself, you know? But I do see the hesitation in smoking a cigar that's readily available but a tad bit too expensive to replace right away. I've got two Padron 80ths that I'm really excited about smoking, but I am on a bit of a budget so I can't buy a replacement like I can with a less-than-$10 smoke. At first I bought them telling myself that I'd save them for when I've got something enormous to celebrate, and now I've come to the conclusion that I'll probably smoke them sometime soon (that's what I did with my stash of Opus X #2s...I smoked them once a day for six days straight without even a second thought). I'll just have to bite the bullet and pay to replace the 80th--and anyway, why not take that $30 - $35 I was going to spend on three or four other sticks and use it to buy the replacement?

I like to save certain sticks for special occasions. I have a few Padron 1926's, Opus X's, Tat Reserva's and Family Reserves set out for when they're ready to be puffed down. I usually buy at least 3 of the same one so I have a chance to smoke a couple, and save one for the right occasion.

Though I'm not gonna' lie, I have been holding out on a certain 1926 40 years for quite sometime, just can't bring myself to do it yet. Waiting for perfect conditions.

Haha, why the No No Face?? I have plenty of premium stick to be enjoyed on a daily basis, hehe :)

By perfect conditions I mean when it's actually nice outside. I live in Chicago, and it's very inconsistent, rainy, and cold. Though it is fairly nice out today! Some of these Padron's are 2+ hour smokes, I'd rather enjoy peacefully instead of freeze my arse off outside.

I have some rare smokes that I've been hanging on to. However when I had a bbq on Labor Day I pulled out quite a few for my guests. A cigar is meant to be smoked. For me it is the difference between a cigar smoker & a collector.

Damn man, it's nice in Chicago? Sucks in Green Bay today, cold, rainy, miserable, I got my jammie pants and hoodie on already, heat turned up in the house and a blanket on...OMG I'm getting old.

Just giving you shit about hanging on to the stick is all, just don't wait for perfect, light it up when you think, "Hmm, this would be a good time to smoke..."

"Getting"? :ballbounc:agreesmil

It's a bit chilly up here in Edmonton today as well, Wade. Still got my PJ pants on, and am also tempted to turn up the heat in the house a little. heh.

I am old though. ;)

Haha, yeah I know, it's surprising isn't it! This year has been the worst I have experienced. It's like 67*-68*. I'll be outside a few times today :cbig:

I actually planned on smoking it when I take a trip to Burning Leaf w/ one of my good buddies. Either the 40 or the 45 Years, one of the two, doesn't really matter, lol. :agreesmil

We still have over half a box of PL's and a third of a box of FF's left, amazing. Yet for some reason, I don't mind! :hysterica
