I am going to a bbq tomorrow and I have not had a chance to purchase a travel humidor yet. I am going to bring some smokes for myself and the chef!!! I am not sure how to store them. I am not keen on the ziplock baggie. I was thinking maybe one of the wooden cigar boxes that have the latch, maybe put the smokes in there and a ziplock back with some salt and water, kind of like when calibrating a hygrometer.
Does that sound alright? What would you recommend i use to secure the smokes? I don't have any foam trays yet.

any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't done this myself, so I can't vouch for it, but if I were in your situation, and if you're not going to keep them stored for long (say, not more than a few hours), I would place the cigars, along with a humidipak (if you've got one), in tupperware with an airtight lid and then seal everything up inside a large ziploc. That might be the easiest and cheapest way to go for a last minute travel humidor. Good luck!

Sounds like a one day event. Don't sweat the small stuff. They will be fine.

Humidity for the Clearwater area will be above 66% anyway.
At the minimum just put them in a cigar box or swing by a Kroger or Publix and get a plastic tupperware deal to protect from physical damage.

You should be fine. Tupperware is the best best if you want to protect them. Keep em out of the sun and your cool.

I picked up a "Lock and Lock" container at WalMart for about $3.00.

It'll hold about 8 cigars plus my cutter and lighter, a humipack and some nub tools (toothpicks).

Works like a charm and it's got a great seal on it - that came in very handy when a waitress spilled a pitcher of margaritas on it. :D

I found one but it has a little button to push on top so it acts as a vent. It looks the same as the one pictured above, just with that button. It claims to be waterproof and air tight. Do you think having that "vent button" will be alright or will that compromise the integrity of the waterproof and airtight?

Thanks. yeah it seems sealed up very well. It still claims to be waterproof and airtight, even with the vent. I was thinking maybe i could just permanently glue it shut or something.
If people this the vent won't make a difference as long as it's closed, I may just leave it as is.

I agree with Charlie.

I take sticks out of my humidor, and with me nearly every day, and rarely in either of my two leather carrying cases, but rather just the inside breast pocket of a jacket.

In the slim chance I haven't smoked em that day...lol I place them back in my humidor upon returning home.

Tim, i am assuming the 2 1/2 is the depth?
Sorta... that's the outside height dimension. If I take the lid off and measure from the inside of the container to the top of the base it's about 1 3/4". Off course the curved lid gives you a bit more room inside. I can easily stack 2 cigars.

do you use foam trays with them? I believe I have the same one you got. I am getting trays from cigar solutions tomorrow. Just want to make sure it's going to work or if i have to go up in size.

I don't have any trays in mine, would probably be a good idea as things can slide around in there. I just try to be careful with them - so far I've had no casualties. :D
