Well, I'm becoming convinced that the beads may be an easier approach to humidification than the old florist foam. Where should I buy? What/Where is most cost-effective? Do you have experience with "generic" beads as opposed to the name-brand? Thanks!

for a small or a large humi? for a cooler or a wine a dor?

if it's small, I go with beads you can get at your local b&m...

for large, I'd go with beads from heartfelt.

Go to Heartfelt. They are one of our sponsors. They have everything you need.

They also have a formula on the site that will assist you on how much you need for how many cubic feet.

Yes, I bought some off of e bay and they did not work like the ones I finally ended up getting from Heartfelt.
You can definitely tell the difference.

For your 2 100 counts, an 8 oz package should be good.

I went to Bed/Bath/and Beyond and purchased some powdercoated/perforated trays (kinda like single silverware holders). Purchases some mesh paint strainers from Home Depot and made some nice little aperatus' (spelling). The more you spread them out (surface area) the better the result. Plus it's easier to wet them that way. Good Luck.

I will take apart the rectangle ones I have and fill them with the beads.
I think I used to use the same ones. They have the slits on top? I put a piece of screening material (like screens on your windows) on top of each so the beads stayed in and would not spill if accidentally bumped. Worked good when I used them.

You will be happy with the beads.

The beads are great, and I can't recommend Heartfelt and David enough. Once you get them set up in your humi there's almost no maintenance.

Was planning on ordering some today... I didn't realize they were over $30 though. Beads are the best according to most B/SOTLers
