Smoked one of these earlier tonight (courtesy of ksflyfisher). It's been awhile since my last one, but as I was enjoying it I was just thinking back to the first time I gave one of these little perfectos a try ... the summer of 1994.

While I'm sure there are some subtle differences between then and now, the overall experience was nearly the same. The ease of lighting ... perfect draw ... flavors of creamy leather, sweet wood and gentle touches of pepper and cinnamon ... the solid ash ... razor sharp burn ... it was like I just took a trip with HG Wells.

I find it quite amazing that the Fuente family (as well as many other cigar makers) can produce such a consistent product from year to year based on raw materials that are subjected to varying weather cycles.

Even the great winemakers in Europe that have been crafting their fine product for many hundreds of years are not able to be this consistent.

these sticks are very consistent i wish that other companies would be able to put out a cigar that would stand up to the years padron and davidoff are other great examples. you see so many companies changing the blend and calling it the same name instead of just re-naming the cigar. the first time that this happened to me was my first miami 8/11 a few years a go i loved this cigar and six moths later i bought a five or six to replace and they just did not taste the same. i have found this a few times since and have asked a few manufactures about this and they said same tobacco same field different growing conditions

I tried my first last weekend. I didn't get much from it. It must have been the wine I was drinking at the time. I'll have to pick up another one and give em a second shot.

About $130 from Tampa Sweethearts for a box of 25. Can be had cheaper, but I'm not sure of those vendors.

My local B&M does not carry Fuente so until I ventured online I had no experience with their products.
That stick was out of the first box of Fuentes I have purchased and also the first short story I have had. An excellent little smoke that is more subtle than what I am used to but carries nice little spice with a touch of sweetness that I find typical of quality Dominicans.

Tedski, I am glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the trip down memory lane.
