How many duds or plugged cigars do you encounter?

It happens to everyone, but there are a few guys I know who love to complain about plugged or duds they get while they are smoking and blame the store. Most stores I frequent keep their humidors properly regulated between 65-70%. I don't recall in recent memory when I had a plugged cigar.

I believe that hand rolled cigars are not a perfect science, but those thing will happen occassionally...

Do stores replace bad cigars? Is it possible some people don't smoke cigars correctly?

Any thoughts?

I seem to stumble on them once in a while.. I think certain sizes or marcas are more prone to have plugged sticks than others. One of my all time favourites El Rey Del Mundo Tainos even though a great smoke seemed to have quite a few that were plugged right out of the box and the same can be said for the Monte D's.

My shop is pretty good about plugged sticks and will replace them not so sure what other places do.

I just smoked a RyJ box pressed stick that was about the size of the Frank and it was so plugged i only got about a third of the way done with it and tossed it... it was a horrble experience... and as for stores replacing bad sticks, it all just depends on the store..

I have plugs generally only with CCs. I cant remember ever getting a plugged Pepin, tat or illusione. Not saying it doesnt happen, but it must happen a lot less. It seems to be with Lonsdales most for me.

With CCs anything in 42 rg longer then a PC is generally bad luck for me. That said I have some ERDM Elegantes that are amazing, I also rarely have ever had a pluged La GLoria Cubana even though they are all small rg.

My local shop will replace it if I buy it and smoke it there and it has issues.

I rarely smoke CC's and that's what I hear the most complaints about. I've only had one I can remember in the last 2 years...

as a matter of fact i just smoked a RyJ Corona CC and it was plugged... how funny... i think its because the humidity in my humidor is a bit too high though... i know this because i recieved the CC from a friend and it was so dry it sounded like a rice crispies treat when i squeezed it and within a week it was one of the freshest feeling cigars i have.. i strongly believe it was plugged because of my overly humidified humidor.

I have only had two that were so plugged I had to chuck them. One was my first 601 Red, the other was a CAO LX2 lancero. I felt like the back of my head was going to collapse.

I agree with getting a Draw Poker but to answer your question, I think I had 1 or 2 plugged NCs in my time and probably 1 out of every 5 or 6 CCs plugged (that is why I tend to stay away)

I actually brought 5 BGMs to a wine tour that I went on w/ my family and friends last weekend, mine was plugged, another one was plugged but smoke-able the rest seemed to be ok but the others weren't really cigar smokers so they may not have known the difference. A waste of money in that situation. Really annoying to say the least.

Totally plugged sticks have always come in the cuban flavor for me personally. It seems that CC's are always either rolled far too tight or far too loose...I think all the best rollers left cuba eons ago. Had a BGM last night and it was tight (not plugged)....the flavors on that stick were so lite I gave it away after a few puffs.

I also have ccs that are plugged but I also try to dry box everything from them for 2 days before. I know what I am buying everyone on botl for xmas though because it can save and turn around alot of bad sticks.

With as many complaints I get from some friends, I wonder if the humidor enviroment is bad or they aren't patient when smoking cigars. They complain of plugged cigars or split wrapper (exploding).

The split wrapper may be caused by smoking them too hot or the drastic change in humidity environment. Is that correct?

None now......I made me a "Transformers" draw poker. Works great too, cuts on the way in, cuts on the way out.

Over the years I've had a few plugged cigars, a quick skewer with a bamboo skewer and problem solved.

I rarely get plugged cigars keeping my humidor at 65% however my box of Padilla 1932 Perlas had QUITE a few in there. They were over filled and when I would attempt to use one of my henry's cigar tools the cigar would burst because it had so much filler and it was wrapped so tight. I would say about 15-20 of the 50 were this way. Thank god I didn't pay retail or I would have been one pissed off dude.

Not too many plugged smokes here. I've had a few Indian Tabac that were plugged, but nothing from Rocky's main lines. The only 2 Exiles I smoked (or tried to smoke). A couple of Cojonu 2006. That's really all that come to mind.
