So I have had a few vitolas of the Davidoff brand including some Zino Plats but alas I was not impressed. When I heard they now had a maduro I thought I would pick one up. Cost at my B&M was $20...ouch! Clip the cap and take a dry draw...I can already taste bitter chocolate. So I fire is up and I get nice milk chocolate which changes up to a dark chocolate flavor...nice toasty notes...candied almond flavors...cinnamon....espresso...very nice change-ups...sweet and deep flavors. My 3 gripes about this stick are first off the cost...I mean $20 for a Robusto? Second, the stick burned uneven, and third it only lasted 1/2 hour. Would be very nice at about an $8 MAX pricepoint. Try one and see what you think. :computer:

This is a very good cigar which is very flavorful due to the maduro wrapper. Which for a Davidoff is unusual but that's one of the great things about it. It's such a change from the typical Davidoff flavor. It also happens to be the lightest colored Maduro wrapper I've seen. It is very costly but again it's a Davidoff and all their sticks are expensive.

I would recommend in the future take your time while smoking. The length of time it takes to finish a stick is mostly controlled by the smoker. A robusto typically takes me a good hour or so unless I'm in a rush.

I like the Maddie R after 6+ months and agree the NIC wrapper makes the cigar... sweet, but not to much and really unique for their product line.

Mine normally last for and 1.25 hours or more, but to each his/her own.

I do smoke fast...but this stick also burned fast and wedged from the beginning which required frequent touch-ups. It was good though. Still need to try a millenium blend.

The Milli's are the only ones that don't do it for me, well with exception of the petite robo. I'm more of a Grand Cru and Anni smoker when it comes to Davidoffs.

You should look for some LE08s if you have never had one, they are still floating around and a damn good smoke.

I'm with you on that. The millenium blend has never suited my taste regardless of vitola. I do like the Special "R" very much.

The Maddie is a great cigar, just doesn't fit into what I am smoking right now... It is very well made. The price points for Davidoff are extreme, but they do target a specific market where money isn't much of a concern, I know many guys who smoked Davidoffs exclusively... To each their own! :)

Thanks for the review. The only Davidoff I have had is the Millenium blend and I liked it. Luckily someone gave it to me. They are pricey.

the first Maduro i had was disappointing. they do seem underfilled and that thick wrapper is really why Kelner stayed away from it for so long - it's so tough to get that thick, sugary leaf to burn even.

the others were better with age - like the flavors, but i'd pick up a Mill Lancero over it anyday.
