Me and a few friends took a good hour and a half tonight to enjoy a weather day by lighting up a few cigars. When we have shitty visibility (due to dust/haze/smoke/etc) we pretty much get the night off since we can't fly. FYI, I've been night shift for a few months now if you're wondering why I'm so pale in the desert haha.

We're in the process of trying to form a cigar club. It's challenging because everyone is on different shifts, but if we finally get some meetings going I'll make sure to start posting pictures.

Glad to see you get some time to enjoy a little down time. Nice pics. Just curious, no IFR flying in those birds?
The Apache isn't IFR rated. Although it does an excellent job of flying in IMC conditions with an outstanding flight management computer including attitude/altitude hold modes, GPS, back up instruments, etc etc... the GPS database is corruptible which is the main thing keeping us from being IFR capable. Well.. that and the fact that our only other system is a single ADF. We can't really do our mission anyway if we can't see the ground. FLIR can only see through so much before even it doesn't help. We can't support the ground guys if we can't even see them lol.

makes sense. when I fly the C172 I don't have to worry about hitting friendly's since i don't have a cannon and missiles and I don't do any flying over a hostile environment. :)

Amen to that Starz26!!
Great pics! May God bless you all, thank you for keeping us safe.
That cigar, I don't recognize the band, or symbol(New Orleans Saints) on the band, what is it? That maduro wrap sure looks creamy with a nice ploom of smoke I might add. By the ash it looks like a well constructed stick.
Good luck with your cigar club.

What a way to make memories. Thanks for sharing these photos!

The cigar placed on the boot shot is awesome! It's simple, unique, but makes an outstanding documentary photo.
