Last Thursday I had business in downtown Orlando, Fla. and visited the Corona Super Cigar Store and Cigar Bar, a big B&M with a huge selection and nice indoor as well as outdoor smoking areas. Great place!

And they had Tatuajes. So I bought a few of the brown label and red labels. I tried a red label first, the only one so far, and here are my impressions of it:

Very good cigar. A little too tight a draw for my preference. Never a hint of harshness or bitterness. The taste reminded me of a Cuban Crafters "Medina 1959" (also of Esteli origin), which I like a lot. The wrapper started peeling here and there during the smoke, and the burn was uneven about midway through but later straightened out on its own.

I am looking forward to trying the brown labels as I generally do prefer a fuller bodied cigar. This is not to say the red label was not flavorful enough, I'm just saying I may like the brown label better. Again, I found it overall a very good cigar.

Thats odd, try another red label. My first tat was a red label, it had NO construction issues and no tight draw, you might have grabbed a odd one. It did take a few relights though. I am glad that you enjoyed your first tat though!

I cannot comment on the cigar but I can say that Corona Super Cigar Store is a great place. First place I ever found Presidente being sold and the cigar selection is some of the best I have seen. Plus if you or a buddy like AVO cigars they can usually have Avo Uvezian sign the box for you.

Yeah, I think you'll like the Miamis a bit more as well (and the construction issues on the Havana VI are odd...all of mine have been fantastic...what vitola did you get?)

If you have a bit more you can spend, pick up one of the Cojonu series cigars. The 03 and 09 are fantastic (and the 06 is very good, too).

Just smoked a Tatuaje brown label, with a black "Reserve" band below it, sort of a robusto. (I had smoked the red label a few days ago.)

Very very good! It did have more taste ("body" as they say) than the red label.

Draw was easy, the way I like it. As with the red, not a hint of bitterness or harshness ever. Had a little bit of uneven burn that straightened out as with the red, but near the end it started another uneven burn which I torched straight. It also seemed to want to go out near the end, which was not the case as to the majority of the length.

Excellent cigar!

The only tats I have tried are the cojonu 2003 and the 2006. I enjoyed those and look forward to trying some other tats when I get the chance.

Kind of off topic, but not really - has anyone picked up on a kind of tart cherry taste in Pete's sticks? The Havana VIs and Cojonu 06 really have it as a pronounced flavor IMO. Maybe I'm misreading it, but it's oh so pleasant.

Sounds like the J21. Definitely one of my favorites.

Just one person's opinion, but I have always felt that the Brown Labels are the closest thing you can smoke to a real cuban cigar....and that's my opinion!
