Does anyone know SPECIFICS about these cigars? A good friend of mine asked if I could use any resources to find out all I could about em. He has recently acquired some that seem to be a bit odd. 8 years old but crystal clear cello. Incorrect bands (apparently he believes they have recently changed???). No "FUENTE FUENTE OPUS X" on the cello

Thanks guys. I'd love to see photos & read any descriptions you can provide. I've seen Moki's site but it seems to have only the cigars, not any packaging or cigars in cello.

Are you sure they are real Opus Maduro?

The real things are quite rare (I have been looking for some for a while) and extremely expensive when they are found...

The only reason I ask is because there was a guy selling fakes (with crystal clear cello and white labels) of these about 4-5 months ago, and a few people were taken for alot of money...

No, I'm not sure they're real. That's why I'm asking for this info. I don't know what's the real band & what's the fake white ones. Would you happen to have example photographs?
Thanks a TON.

Yep...

Do you know who he bought them from? What board he was on?

It might help...

I don't know the site he was planning on buying them from but he was aware of "previous situations" with these when we spoke about it. I'm sure that is referring to the fugazi's you spoke of in your previous post.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the references to other avenues of information. I'm curious if anyone HERE has dealt with this. Vitolas.net is under Moki's control, is it not? That was the site I was implying in my first post, plus it was linked above... I'd like separate input if it is available.

Well, there were some Opus Maduro for sale on another site (Wades) recently, about 13 sticks total...If that is what you are talking about, I would buy with confidence... the seller is well known around there, and he is legit...

i had a maduro opus BBMf in my had last week and it did not have cello on it. fuente sent it to my local B&M for the toast dinner. it was quite a dark maduro and the warpper was almost perfect i would compare it to a pradon warpper, by that i mean no veins no imperfections , just a smooth dark warpper

The old opus maduro uses the broadleaf. The newer maduro versions like the elscorpion uses the anejo maduro. Smokenj has been active. He was just outed on Wades 2 to 3 weeks ago under the handle Brose. You can get good info on both CF and CP just use the search function.

Ok, this has been inspected and I think it was a fake. The cello was crystal clear (as discussed), the Opus band had the white border, not the cream/off white older bands should have, the cello had no 'FFOX' writing on it, the cello was the appropriate size for a 54+ RG and this cigar was a ~48, I'm 99% sure the wrapper was a broadleaf which I think is incorrect, the aroma was still incredibly fresh (unlike that of the aged opus it was said to be), the cedar wrap around the cigar was breaking & appeared to be too thick to bend.

All of these things could easily be attributed to my very suspicous eye and not necessarily direct indications of a blatent fake. The KICKER for me was the price; single cigar for $50. If he wanted a full dozen, he could get them for $360. Would anyone sell Opus Maduro for $30?

Thanks for all the input.
