I know Angry Bill did an outstanding reference guide of Don Pepin's cigars and the Troya Clasico was included in that guide.

Can anybody here comment on that particular cigar?

I have read that they have characteristics similar to the Pepin Blue Label cigars....The reason I ask is that I have found some 2007 boxes (at a very good price) of the Clasico's and I'm wondering if I should pick-up a box or not.

Thanks for any and all input my brothers!

I had one. I didn't write any notes, but I remember it as not being as "Pepin-esque" as some of his other cigars. Mainly not a big hit of spice.

Maybe I had a dud though. I rarely ever do reviews based on one cigar but I wasn't able to get another of these to give it a second chance. They're discontinued now, right?

It depends on how good of a price...
I remember it being a bit one-dimensional. It's similar to the 'Blue', just not nearly as 'peppery'.

Well, the line was introduced to the U. S. market in January 2007 as a limited edition release, so you may be right that it is no longer made.

That's why when I came upon some 2007 boxes I thought it might be a good pick-up.

A bundle of 20 for $100.00 and a box of 20 for $149.00....not sure if the bundles are from 2007 or not....otherwise why would I want to pay $49.00 more just for the box of the same size?

Tim, I did not pull the trigger on these....they were only offered as boxes and bundles and I personally did want to spend the money without trying at least one cigar.

These are pretty good, IMO. As others have noted, they are definitely toned down in the pepper department. A local B&M has all three sizes in their clearance section and I'll pick some up every so often. These have some noticeable spice notes and a savory characteristic that's somewhat unusual. One of the creamier blends that Pepin has produced. The Toro (6 x 52) is the best size in this line, IMO.
