So, I decided to get a black leather 3 finger case to use when going out and not wanting to carry around a snap top 5 cigar travel humidor (what I normally use for the car). Well, when it came in I was naturally like a little kid in a candy store, what size fits, can I keep the cello on, etc etc.
Well - now that I have been using it for about 2 weeks - umm, all my cigars smell like leather. Not a little, not a mix of cigar with leather. . . they smell like the case.
I only leave them in the case for maybe 3-4 hours tops, and once they go back into the humi for a day or so they are fine. I have only smoked 3 or 4 of them once i noticed this, and the flavor does not change but they def absorb the smell of the leather.
My question- Will the leather dry them out faster, is this bad for the cigars and lastly can I get cedar and line the inside or am I wasting my time?
thanks again,
David

Time and use took care of the problem for mine.

If you are less patient, you could use some of the cedar wraps that come on some sticks as sleeves inside the fingers of the case, that might help...

Store it open when it's empty so it can breath... or maybe toss a couple of cedar blanks in there and see if it helps... good luck.

Sorry to hear that... I can't really answer the leather question but I would probably leave the case open for a few days to let it air out and possibly lose the smell a little.

But I have a 3-finger case that is lined with cedar and love it. You might want to consider using a thin cedar sheet from cigar boxes to line yours, but I wouldn't worry too much about it.

My leather 2 finger has cardboard inserts. Leather never comes in contact with the Cigar. My 3 finger has cedar lining......

Awesome - it appears I need to leave it open (have not yet) as well as either the cedar sleeves or the inserts. . . hmmm. Or perhaps I'm just being a girl and need to deal with it, haha
I will let you all know the results - thanks again!

Yes..Let it air out a little. You will always have that leather smell but it will be slight as time goes on. I use mine alot now and can't tell a thing.

I never had a problem with my leather case....it's has a softer leather feel to it, yet it's sturdy.

Here's my favorite 3 finger case, Double Corona size....but they are not cheap!

The leather three fingers cases do not seal so you really are not going to leave the cigars in them long enough to make a diff. I have never had a problem with mine although I have two one that is unlined and one that is cedar lined.

Larry that carbon fiber case is sick. Very nice.
