Yeah, ummm, I'm going to go out on a limb here by saying I don't think any of the Brothers would find the world a worse place without those brands...

Yeah I just recently got a Monte and RyJ sampler pack in the $7.95 promo they do but since I realized they were throwing Pete and Pepin under the bus, I wish I never signed up for them.

So last week a bunch of guys got together at a local B&M to donate cigars and goodies for the troops and I gave up all my Altadis cigars. I just couldn't stand to see them in my humi! I feel a little guilty about it, but I know a lot of those guys would be more than happy getting some free Monte's and RyJ's not knowing anything about this lawsuit. I also gave other good cigars so it wasn't like I was just ridding myself of stuff I didn't want...

But like others said... they lost any potential customer in me!

I have been listening a little to the lawsuit - for from the beginning it seemed like a power play/ publicity stunt. Really - over a logo that is not even their logo to begin with (ancient emblem) - get real, and then going after Pepin b/c of the similarities in his name?! Simply obnoxious.
Here is my issue though, One of my most favorite and go to cigars is the H. Upmann Vintage Cameroon, is made by these guys - and I used to smoke atleast one a day perhaps more. Well, I can honestly say that I burned down my last one when I was reading about the lawsuit and have yet to purchase any more. Oh well, on to finding a new go to :)

IMO the best Cameroons on the market come from Fuente, namely the Don Carlos and the Hemingways. Both are complex with a myriad of subtle flavors that you don't find in most other cigars on the market. Also, both blends really let that natural sweetness of the Cameroon wrapper shine.

Unfortunately, neither is anywhere as affordable as the H. Upmann Vintage Cameroon. There once was a time I liked that cigar (2004-ish?) but I gave up on it years ago. The last one I had was rather bland, and obviously I won't go anywhere near one now.

What cigars fall under the Altadis Umbrella? Whatever they are I'm almost certain I already don't smoke them. I know it's sad for a B&M worker asking this question. That just shows how much attention I pay to their brands/company. Hell General Cigar is in the same ballpark for me. I just don't pass judgement when people buy their stuff. When it comes to personal referrals for cigars I always end up on independent companies.

So uh you guys arent gonna ever smoke habanos again???

Peace, Nick
You've got it all wrong; Altadis USA is the company that sued Pete as well as the company that produces all those SHITASSED NCs with the old Cuban trademarks. That's the company I could give two-fucks about.

Altadis SA (now owned by Imperial Tobacco) is the parent company who purchased a 50% interest in Habanos SA--but let's be clear here, they DO NOT manufacture or own the brands of the Cuban cigars being produced today.

We're talking about completely different corporations here, with different management, different staff, different trademark ownerships and different products entirely. The name may be the same (or at least once was, before the Imperial buyout) but they're totally different legal entities.

Oh, I totally agree about the Cameroon Cabinets. By far my favorite cammy stick, but unfortunately (for me at least) very hard to find. Didn't want the send the poor fellow on a wild cigar chase...:smokingbo
