After 6 months of being married, the wife and I have finally booked tickets to Italy for 2 weeks in mid January. This is our first time traveling to Europe so we're very excited. As far as I know we'll be going to Naples, Florence, Tuscany, Capri, the Amalfi coast and Rome.

I have a couple must-do's on my list: attend a soccer match, find a Casa Del Habano, and the Sistine chapel. Other than that, anyone have any good tips or spots that are must see? Where can I find a CDH out there? Thanks!

Thanks Larry, will have to check those out!

BTW, are there any books I should consider reading before the trip or anything? There are so many damn travel guides I don't even know what to pick out, or if should even bother.

Ask the locals for places to eat and ask the waiter: "what would ye have?" to know what to order. Food is one of the best things that country has! If ye still need a LCDH address, PM me.

Nope no Venice. Since we're going during the rainy season, it's almost certain Venice would be flooded during our visit. Instead we opted for Capri which we heard was going to be nice without all the crowds.

That's a great idea Moro, thanks. We've been thinking about planning our daily activities around the places we want to go eat at. We're not foodies at all, but figure we'd try to get the best local food we can. I'm a huge seafood fan so I'm excited to try all the fish and shellfish I can get my hands on, especially the stuff I can't find in the Bay Area.

Oh, well that's good to know. Mmmmm but still, too bad, it really is a "magical" place, so to speak.

But you'll anyways have a blast so don't even worry about that... not that you would :sarcastic

Went on the Angels and Demons tour in Rome, summer of 2007. If you have read the book, it was very cool.
Funny, I just read this book a couple of months ago and was wondering how much of it other than the churches and such are true. Might have to look into it as it sounds interesting, thanks.
