Hi Guys. Being a newbie on the site and not living in the US, I was wondering if someone could tell me a little about the above cigar?

I've had a look for a sampler, but the cost of sending them to Scotland is horrendous, so I'd like some tasting advice as to whether I should look for some the next time I'm in the Bay area.

I gotta agree with HC about the Lancero, excellant cigar! OLiva Serie V Maduro is a very good cigar too, 2008 & 2009 versions.

There are two different Oliva familys. One is a tobacco farmer, One is a cigar manufacturer. Oliva the cigar manufacturer sued Oliva the tobacco farmer a few weeks into the release of the Oliva Serie V. Unbeknownst to most cigar smokers, when the boxes started saying 'Liga Especial', the cigars were %100 different tobacco from the first release of the cigar. The taste is very close currently, but the spice and sweetness are slightly different in the current market Oliva Serie V.

I can also vouch for the lancero. A great stick at $22 a fiver. Definitely worth a try!

A little info:
"This cigar is blended to deliver full body taste while maintaining an unparalleled smoothness. This flavorful blend exhibits complex tobacco with rich coffee and dark chocolate tones. A subtle and well balanced spice is present throughout. Wrapper: Habano Sun Grown Binder: Nicaraguan Filler: Jalapa Valley Ligero Vitolas"

again, Lancero is the way to go...hint of caramel, smooth, and great for the price.

I had the maddy '08 to see what the fuss was all about. It did nothing for me. Just my $0.02 Larry. Maybe I need to get another one & revisit it. :computer:
The series V is a great cigar, well balanced in strenght and flavor. I'm partial to the belicoso myself.
The belicoso was my go to stick for quite a while. I kinda got burned out on that one. But I do agree it's also one of the better sizes.

I just picked up a bunch of the torpedo recently. It was a very well made, nicely blended cigar, but I just didn't really like it. I put some up over in the for sale forum, and I'm keeping the rest to see if I like them any better with a year or so on 'em.

Anyone smoke these with some age on 'em?

That's always something I do....I won't completely write a cigar off until I have at least smoked three of them.

HC, that's what makes smoking cigars so great not everyone is gonna like the same thing, but in the end we are all still "Brothers of the Leaf!"
