I've out grown my desktop so I picked up a case of 2 liter fido jars that seal perfectly and put the 69% Humidipacks that I bought from you in them. Now I've noticed recently that the cigars are a little drier than I like, if I had to guess I'd say somewhere around 62% and I'm thinking maybe I have too many cigars in the jars. To give you an idea of the size I can hold 15 Dracs and a Humidipack with very little wiggle room left. How much breathing room do they need or should I just squeeze in another pack?

I know I should just pony up and buy a bigger humidor but this time of year the jars and packs seemed to be the most frugal solution to a problem I will inevitably need to address.

You really got a lot in there! LOL

Mike, you could probably stick one to the lid right?

the science behind the Humidipaks and Bovedas is exact. if you have a 69% humidipak in an airtight jar, its going to be 69% in there.

There are 2 size humidipaks, go with the 1 that retails for $1.99, or the bigger Boveda.

Thanks, I have the larger size pack. I added another one this morning just to make sure. I noticed this when the temperature in the house began to drop. Is it possible that they're just adjusting to that change?

I'm keeping a few cigars in one of those airtight mason jars with a Boveda in it, and the only problem I've found is that the foot of the cigar can get slightly spongy––due, probably, to the fact that I store them upright and use a 70% pack (I had it lying around and decided to use it to save myself some money on a new one). No major problems, though. I've since then placed a folded paper towel at the bottom to cushion the feet and it seems to work, and I also place whatever stick I want to smoke in one of my desktops (with 65% beads in it) overnight and it smokes fine the next day.

are you sure they are airtight?
Yeah, definitely air tight, I tested one with a 69% pack and a hygro, it didn't budge for a week. I have one here at work with half the cigars in it that I just checked. They're fine with one pack. I must have too many cigars in the jar, maybe 10 should be the limit considering the size of the smokes.

It also might be that the smokes were really dry when you put them in I would assume... They would take a while to suck up the correct amount of moisture and stabilize the humidity of the jar... I would think :dunno:

Could be, a lot of stuff I've bought lately was on the drier side. In fact two recent shipments from Jack Schwartz were very dry. I did also open and close the jar with the Dracs quite a bit in the beginning to air them out.

Damn shame too, tossed 2 super premiums half smoked because I couldn't enjoy them last night.

That is not good, I don't mind mine in the 60% range, I do NOT like when they get close to 70, they seem sooo bitter to me...
