Hey guys,

I have seen such a wide range of prices from people selling the Anejo Sharks and was wondering what the current MSRP is? I was on vacation when they hit the shelves at my local B&M's and missed out...

Vitolas.net says the following, is that accurate from your experience?

(Effective June 1st, 2009 there was a price increase of $1.00 per cigar for all Añejo vitolas, in response to the SCHIP tax on cigars).

1. No.49 (7 5/8" x 49) ....................... MSRP = $10.50 x 25 per box = $262.50
2. No.48 (7" x 48) ............................. MSRP = $9.75 x 25 per box = $243.75
3. No.55 (6" x 55) ............................. MSRP = $10.75 x 25 per box = $268.75
4. No.77 aka "Shark" (5 5/8" x 54) .... MSRP = $10.25 x 20 per box = $205.00
5. No.46 (5 5/8" x 46) ....................... MSRP = $8.25 x 25 per box = $206.25
6. No.50 (5 ¼" x 50) ......................... MSRP = $9.00 x 25 per box = $225.00

MSRP does not include state sales tax, nor state tobacco tax, the latter of which can be quite significant.

Not sure. I'd like to know myself, since the only Sharks I've seen in person for purchase are here at Casa Fuente; and like I said in a post a while back, they're there at a 150% mark-up.

I have never seen sharks, but I see a lot of opus at places for $10-15 depending on the size. I was shocked when I saw them selling for $20-40 online!

I got 2 for $11.55 each. My B&M pretty much always charges right around msrp.
If a retailer is charging MSRP for any cigar, they're not going to be in business long. State taxes along with SCHIP raise cigar prices considerably. Unless you live in Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Texas, Tennessee or the like, you're not paying anywhere near MSRP.

But I think most people consider MSRP is the suggested price plus all applicable taxes for that state. Manufacturers give the MSRP knowing state taxes are different across the country but it's still good to know what the MSRP price is just in case a state with minimal taxes is charging a lot, you know they are gouging.

MSRP is before state taxes, but SCHIP is payed by the manufacturers, so it is included in the MSRP. If a shop charges you MSRP + "SCHIP", they are ripping you off.

My B&M does just fine, thanks.

God Bless Texas.

That price list is right on as far as no. 77 shark goes. Msrp went up from last year due to schip but only by a dollar and change. Last year the same box cost you 180 now 205. Regardless of retail price these are hard to find and hard to find near retail price. They get bought up pretty quick.

We get to pay MSRP in PA hehe. I forget what our Sharks are going for but it's like $11.

Anyhow here's a little intel on Anejos my friends. I heard that because of the rough times for some shops they are running into Fuente credit problems. So shops in good standing are getting other shops normal allocations of Anejos/Opus. So if your shop normally gets them and doesn't they have been sent elsewhere.

Sharks are fairly popular size, hard to find right at MSRP but it can be done pretty close depending where they are bought.
