How long can cigars be stored outside of a happy environment?

I want to pick up a box of smokes but due to logistical complications and travel time they won't be able to be safe and happy in my humidor for 2 months. They'll spend those two months in the wild sitting in a sealed box too big for a ziploc. So long as I give them a long rest in the humidor (3+ months) to recharge will they be unharmed and good as new for smoking?

Thanks,
Jacob

I'm abroad and I have not been able to find any humidipaks in the country I'm in. I'm interested in buying them now rather than when I depart because a small quantity of these boxes were produced. They're DC in size and the box is quite large. I'll keep an eye out for a big enough tupperware or small cooler to improvise something. That's a great idea!

It all depends on heat and humidity. Cigars need a stable environment. Heat could cause an outbreak of beetles. Lack of humidity could affect how the cigars taste even after you recharge them.

Two months is a long time. Try and find a container. I have stored boxes wrapped in a slightly damp towel for two weeks with no issue. Two months is a long time.

is it not possible to find these same smokes from another source? Otherwise I would pass just considering that if the sourse can't store them correctly, what other damage are they going to face in those months. This sounds like someone who is not as concerned with proper care and handleing as we would like with our smokes. Now if you're getting a price that is worth gambl;ing with then lets see what comes of it. you might get lucky

Ok I stareted typing then took a 15 minute break and did not read all the info. Ship them to a buddy and let him store them. Any number of guys here have enough storage to hold them for you.

Probably the best option all in all.

Ship them to a family member that you can instruct to get them into your humidor back home.... or heck, maybe even a Brother has enough space to hold them for you.....

I acctually have plenty of room in the Wine-a-ador right now and could store them for you. I know you don't know me, but I believe Someone will vouch that I am not going to be running off with your smokes. let me know.

I on the other hand, cannot make that guarantee, haha.

Worst case scenario, take them out of the box and put them into a ziplock in a tupperware container. It shouldn't be too hard to find one that will hold a box of double coronas. If not, you can split the box into 2. Throw a couple humidipaks in each box and you should be good to go.

You might want to split it into 2 so that you can wrap some bubble wrap around them for when you travel.

Also, when you get home, I wouldn't put them right back into the box. If it is really dry or wet, it could affect the cigars. Let it get acclimated to your humidor for a few weeks (or put the humidipaks from the tupperware into the box and close it for a few weeks.)

Is the climate you are going to be in dry or wet?

Ship them to someone here. If I had room I would help you out also.

Its not worth buying a limited stick just to have them dry out and lose all the oils. Might as well have not bought them. I would vouch the brothers who offered to store them

.Jacob, as others have said

1. Buy them when you get back
2. If #1 fails send to friend / family
3. Send to a BOTL and you have two great offers already
4. If unable to send to BOTL and unable to wait, best not to gamble.
5. If going with option #4, let us know what they are, maybe you will still get some when you return :)

Oh, and add me to the list of willing brothers...I now have two empty coolidors that could use fillin for long term storage....

I think shipping to a BOTL is the best option. All vouching and assurances aside, this being a public thread, we would all know who you sent them to. So fear not, everyone on this site would make sure you got your sticks back! :hammersma
