Great news indeed! You are on to the next great adventure in life. But yeah, make sure you have a good inspection report before closing and know the whole score. My BIL bought a charming "This Old House" and after a couple years of work started to refer to it as "This Old F'ing House". But now it is a fantastic home, all credit to him.

And you do know those real estate closing are public record, don't you? Better reinforce that mailbox my friend!

Congrats, dude. Expect an adventure. Keep your wits and your sense of humor about you at all times. Make sure you watch that old Tom Hanks movie, "The Money Pit" so you know what you're in for. :)

we got the ball rolling now!

Got paperwork back from HUD, got the utilities turned on today, getting appraised today and inspected Friday. I think all we have to do after that is termite inspection and sign paperwork with the bank and USDA! Hopefully we can close by the end of the year!!

well, four months later, and we're still working on it! Finally the title issues got ironed out (titling atty from luckett land and title out of Houston) screwed it up like 3 times but it's good now. Now waiting on the underwriting. Hoping to close by the 26th!! Can't wait to fix up the man cave!!

Ahh, man the joys and frustration of home ownership. I happily rent an apartment....I did the NY Times Rent/Buy calculator and I'm not that far behind. Besides, I love having no housework.

I wish you the best of luck though bro!!
