I will fish a new z-axis when I won't freeze and die... Have an XP as well... Really dig the St. Croix Legend rods too!
Well, when you want anew Z-Axis, I know a guy ...:rolling:

They really are a phenomenal rod. I'm fishing an 8'6" 4-weight in Elevenmile Canyon now, and can't bring myself to pick up anything else.

I demoed one, boy they are a lot stiffer than my XP.. Think it'll work great for the green river trip... Loads the line SOOO much easier, amazing where technology goes in such a short time, I thought the XP would be the last rod I ever purchased... Can you get any hookup on price? Everywhere I look is just the MSRP list on sage stuff... Sucks! :p

Yeah, it's because Sage frowns on that sort of thing. They send out a letter per quarter admonishing dealers not to do any kind of deals. It happens all the time, of course, it's just a matter of looking in the right place. Definitely not supposed to, though.

But for a Brother I can always find a way. ;)

That would be the bees knees... Never realize how big the green is until I try to cast to the other side! :p The flows were really shitty during the cicada hatch during the early summer, but I made due... I have not updated my gear in probably 10 years, so that says something about the quality of stuff... I still have my old school simms waders with just the flip out top pocket... They make some realllllly nice guideweight waders now... They make me drool and cry...

Simms waders, you say?

You and I can either be really good friends, or you can just skip to the part where you start hating me now ...:jitb:

It is funny... I don't think twice on dropping that kind of coin on a box of cigars, but when it comes to my fly gear.. I like to hold onto it for a good ten+ years... LOL...

These http://www.simmsfishing.com/site/g3_guide_convertible.html?id=KI29urpU:63.226.109.29 are what keep me awake at night.... Those would be sooo nice in the summertines...
If you don't think you need the convertible, Simms is bringing out a pure pant-style wader in the G3 next spring. The price is $380; I've already pre-sold 11 pairs, not counting what my guides are buying. I still rock a pair of the old Simms Classic Guides (ca. 2001) in the pant, but they'll be retired when I buy the new ones. They're rancid. Only wear them in the boat any more.

If you are wanting to buy the convertibles, though ... the price is going up soon, just an FYI.

Are they doing anything to redesign them or just a price hike? I really thin the convertibles are where its at for me.. I also have the class guides... I have rejuvenexed them so many times I dunno... They are just showing their age s'all..... What product you know of lasts as long as some of this fly fishing gear though... I hike through some pretty rugged stuff on my adventures have not even put the littlest hole in the simms...
Yeah... We need to have a talk.... :p

Simms stuff is bomb-proof. There's nothing else like it. I know, I've been trying to find a "back up plan" for years. Love the stuff, but we joke the name stands for "Shipping in March ... Maybe September."

There's no redesign; they're just going up ... $30 I think (can't remember this moment) because of the debut of the pant waders at their old price-point.

Now if they will come out with one in the electric green of the TCX range, then I am sold. Leave you pansies with your limp rods.:smokingbo

I've got an Xi3, replaced my Xi2 8-weight with it ... it's a cannon. They've got more raw power than the TCX's do. Pretty crazy rod. I was tossing 5" long pike flies with it without breaking a sweat.

BTW Brandon, I was in my local shop just this evening trying to decide between the Scott S4 and the Z axis 4wts. Probably go with the Sage so I can buy the blank and build it myself. Still tempted to get the limp wristed TCX 4wt to match my 6wt but for what I want to use it for it would be overkill.

And that Humi is bad*ss.

Are they as quick in the tip as the TCX? That is where the TCX shines imo. But the guys at the shop who was at the retailers show in your neck of woods came back raving about the Xi3 and the new S4s Scott. Need a new 8wt. My T&T Horizon feels heavy and clumsy compared to some of these new rods.

You could try what I did, buy a book and just go out and do it. I spent about 45min. in my front yard just getting line out there and then went fishing. Caught a couple perch and been hooked ever since. Good site to check out is
www.sexyloops.com, excellent info on casting. Some of the best casters in the world post on there. Need any info or just have questions pm me. I love talking fishing.

As quick in the tip, comparing apples to apples (got to go up to a TCX saltwater rod to get a fair comparison), but they're stouter in the butt. They've got serious balls. Lightest real saltwater rod I've ever picked up. The Winston BIIx 8-weight is lighter but it's a little wussy for real saltwater. Great bass rod, but a big bonefish or carp is going to kick the hell out of it.

We've had a herf and get-together out here, to fish the South Platte, which is a river I will put up against any river in the lower 48 for quality. If we do another one - which I think a lot of people want to do - you need to get out here, bring your gear. I teach 200+ people a year. What's one more?:dunno:
