I'm considering this as well as a wine-a-dor...Target has a 12 bottle, emerson for 75 bux! and 130 for a 16 bottle...

this one shoot, if I had the money...2 12 bottle fridges...
I wouldn't even bother with a 12 bottle wine fridge. You'll run out of room FAST. Go with the Iglo cooler until you are ready for at least a 28 bottle vino.

but 2 of them and you got some decent storage...plus who says I'm gonna buy lot's of boxes...no money to do so.
if the budget is tight just stick with the igloo for now. It is by far the least expensive large cigar starage available. I guess if it gets really hot in the summer then a temp controlled environment is good.

Ok I was at Lowes today and saw cedar shelves and cedar blocks. What is the difference between spanish cedar and these cedar blocks? Can I put just regular cedar blocks in my cooler? I guess I am basically asking what makes "spanish" cedar special as opposed to regular cedar.

No. The cedar you saw at Lowes is very aromatic and will impart that to your cigars. Spanish cedar is different. As Ron said, all you really need is a few boxes.

So I went to my local B&M and got a bunch of cedar boxes. Found out he is going out of business at the end of the month.
I put my smokes in them and put them in the coolider. As of now my humidity is between 60-65%. I am happy with that. I don't see a problem as long as it doesn't get below 60 and above 65-67%.
Hopefully it stays like that. My BM is selling a cigar oasis for $50 bucks. i am thinking about getting because it normally goes for $100.00. I am sure I could probably get it for cheaper if I really try! Not sure though, but I am most likely going to get it.

You don't need a fan or boxes. I keep all my cigars in baggies with the bags open, not sealed, in the cooler. I use a half a pound of beads. The humidity is rock solid.

Ok you know after reading this thread twice it is very apparent that when you are buying a wine fridge or building a coolidor you need to take a second and say ok this is how big I think I need then triple it because it will save you money down the road.

I was mistaken. Its not a Cigar Oasis but a Le Veil or La Veil (not sure of the spelling). My question is, is how does it work. I fill the tank, set the humidity and is that it? What happens if it gets too much humidity, does it lower it? For example my coolerdor is holding between 65 and 68. I want it at a steady 65. Will this Le Veil or Whatever it is called lower the humidity to 65 if that's what I have it set on? If so, how?

never heard of this brand and I doubt it will remove humidity. to remove excess humidity use 100% silica (damp rid or Kitty litter) this will work more effective than beads. For the size cooler you have (48qt?) beads should work fine, if/when you get a 100qt or bigger I'd go with an active system (CO, Hyrda).

Don't worry about a swing from 65-68 that is not a big deal. Mine runs from 60-65% depending on the season. My goal is 62% but outside conditions mean lower in the winter, higher in the spring and summer and my cigars smoke fine year round.

To much energy is spent on storing cigars they are pretty durable and hard to destroy unless neglected.
