Ok I am down to the wire here.

I ususally laugh at all you guys doing last minute shopping as I normally finish by end of summer.

We were going to get my daughter a Wii for here big gift. I missed some of the good $150 deals at WallyWorld. So now it $200 with 1 controller and 1 game pack. All the stores are sold out ETC. Do you all think it will be any cheaper after the holidays? I really don't see them going below $200 until they come out with a next generation of it. What say ye?

She's 6 and really wants it. I am not above telling her she has to wait, as santa ran out. Of course I'll make a really cool letter from Santa and give her some accesories to oen on X-mas.

If she wants it and you can afford to do it... get it now.

She will get the $50 bucks worth of enjoyment out of it in the first day, plus I'm sure you will play it as well. New games on the horizon that will be fun for everyone. I was going to suggest getting a PS3 if she was a little older for a myriad of reasons, but for younger gamers the Wii is the way.

No real deals I know of, but day after x-mas might be a day to watch if you wait - gamestop / bestbuy / etc.

Do you have a TJ Maxx near you? If so call them, they have been carrying them this Xmas season. Price: 159.99

I wad amazed it went down for that weekend, so I wouldn't look for it to go down again until next year. But $200 is pretty cheap. Of course, for $299 you can get a OS3 that's full HD and plays Blu-Ray and DVD, wifi, etc.

Lots of good suggestions, I would have never though TJ Maxx. Go for it this year either way, while not the most advanced gaming system, the fun factor on this one puts it up there right next to the 360 and PS3, I do not own one, but have a funny feeling one is going to be under our tree this year as my fiance has wanted one all year.

We got Twerpy a Wii for her 5th birthday (she's 6 now) and we (the whole family) have enjoyed it thoroughly.

She's gonna love it.

One thing though: when buying games based on animated movies, do some research on them. Some of them flat out suck, and some of them just make no dang sense, while others are so hard, an experienced gamer gets frustrated.

The sports games are the best, and the original disc is still the one that Twerpy wants to play the most often, followed by Wii Sports. I like the Tiger game.

+1!

This is nearly a universal truth in video gaming. Movie tie-ins are 99.% crap. They spend most of the money on the licensed content, and pin most of their sales/marketing plan on that content. Guess how much time/money/effort goes into the actual game...

There are exceptions, but they're rare. Like GB says, read the reviews so you don't waste your money.

For the youngster, the Wii is the way to go. My 7 year old loves it. His favorites are anything Super Mario & Spiderman, though he has a ton of games for it.

I think we paid about 240 or 260 last year, but it came with an extra controler & a game.

WOW It's nice to know I'm not the only GUY who get his shopping done in late summer. I'm usually done by October at the latest. Anyways my kids have alot of gamming stuff (Wii included). I don't see the price of Wii dropping at all however you should try online if you don't need it buy X-mas. I have baught off Bestbuy.com, Amazon.com, Buy.com, and Newegg.com. I have shopped for a couple years this way and saved alot of money plus I've never had ANY PROBLEMS with a product I've baught from them. Hope this helps and Happy Holiday brother!!
