RH Question

I know I'm probably being a little impatient, but...
I set up my new 28 bottle winedor. I have the bottom lined with Spanish Cedar. I have 3 cedar trays and a 1/2 shelf at the top. I have (2) 1/2 lb bags of 65% beads at the bottom with an Oust fan. I have about a 1 lb of KL( no blue ones!!) on the 1/2 shelf. Saturated the cedar with distilled water and wiped of the excess. Had a dish of distilled water in there for about 4 hrs( until it reached 85%RH) I sprayed the beads & KL prior to putting the in.I also have an ETC set up programed to come on at 69 deg and to drop the temp to 67 deg. 24 hrs later, I'm at 75% and 77% (have 2 hygrometers). Am I going to have to wait a week or 2 before I see 65-68%? What smokes I do have are in a coolidor. Will I have to concern my self with not being 75% stocked when I do put the sticks in there? Will I have a harder time controlling the RH%? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Those are some pretty high RH readings. My guess is the saturated cedar is putting off too much moisture. You probably could have done without that, instead just leaving the open dish of distilled water in there longer.

Maybe leave the thing empty and open for a couple days. This time of year the ambient air should draw the excess moisture right out.

Should be plenty of beads/kl

Not a good idea, take out and let dry out a little.

Sounds good here, the lower the temp the harder to controll the RH

Leave it open until it get to 50% or so, close it up, put the spanish cedar back in and let it get to 65% with the beads/kl if it takes more than a couple days add the bowl of distilled water. if it shoots past 65%, repeat

Coolidor will be fine, the fuller the humidor the better it will hold steady but with the amount of beads/kl you have even at 25% full you should be ok
