Size: 5 1/8" x 42
Wrapper: Cuba
Binder: Cuba
Filler: Cuba
Box Code = Unknown, but I believe this is from 2007
Price: Around $6
Pre-Light: The wrapper is somewhat mottled in appearance with several different shades of tan, light brown and olive. Also there are a couple medium veins. It has some softer spots, but overall the build is firm. The aroma is woodsy, earthy, with hints of barnyard.
First 1/3: After lighting, the draw was smooth and easy, providing plenty of thick, creamy smoke. There was an initial blast of pepper which mellowed out after the first 1/2 inch. The main flavors were creamy leather, a touch of caramel and some mild spices. The burn is mostly even with a solid ash that's almost black. It's in the mild-medium body + strength range.
Second 1/3: The draw is still excellent. The body + strength have picked up a notch to medium. The flavors have changed now - with the leather evolving into a deep honey and the spice flavor being a very obvious cinnamon. The finish flavors last quite a long time. At about the halfway point, I had to touch up the cigar to even out the burn. The very dark ash has also changed to a medium gray.
Final 1/3: Draw is still good, but again I had to touch up one side to keep the burn even. The body/strength are still medium, but actually seems a touch lighter than the last third. I do have a nice mellow buzz going though. The flavors keep evolving, the deep honey has lightened up to to a sweet, woody, earthy tobacco flavor and the cinnamon has become more of a mixed, mild spice on the finish. I let this burn down to about an inch left. At this point the smoke output went down dramatically and the burn started tunneling. Total smoke time = approx 1 hour.
Overall this was a very good and complex cigar that I enjoyed very much.
