Humi combo?

I, still being a newbie, thought it seemed like a pretty decent deal for starting off. But, I figured I should ask people who know what they are doing before I place any orders.

In short, good combo for a newb or pass on it?

Pass.... I think you can find something larger for that price, you will need the space, trust me.

It depends on how many cigars you intend on storing. If you're just trying cigars out and still iffy on whether you dig em or not then this is good. However, if you know you enjoy cigars and plan on smoking them regularly, this humi will probably be too small.

looks like this combo only has one kind of cigar in it. Try this or this for a smaller humi, or if you decide you'll need a larger one you may want to just pick a humi (100 ct minimum) and try a few samplers. And yes, stroke - I'm still somewhat iffy. While yes, I do love cigars now. I know myself well enough that this COULD be just a phase and will be over with it in x number of months. So I would like to stick to something smaller until I am sure this is something I will be sticking with.

If that is the case, these are cheap but pretty good humidors... Be careful on this site, it can get out of control really fast, just know that when they show msrp on something here that it is an exaggerated price most of the time. This type of humi can be had for $10 or so... :devilhead devil site :devilhead

Agreed with everything. The first humidor I bought was the same size, and it came with similar accessories (minus the cigars), and I got it for about $29 at Cheap Humidors. And unless you know you like those cigars, they may just end up consuming what little space is there already and you'll have wasted the extra $35 - $40 on sticks you'll eventually leave unsmoked.

... And I just had a curveball thrown my way. Another friend has offered to give me a couple of his travel humidors. Dumb question, but is there any downside to these? If I maintain it like a normal humi, will the sticks be fine? Or is keeping them for long periods of time in a travel humi just a big no no?

How big are they? Unless they're really big I feel like a tupidor would be a better choice.

Same thing... People use coolers, tupperware, foam coolers (hah)

Using a travel humi will be fine as long as you maintain it, I don't like the green florist foam that comes with most of them. It would be beneficial to you to pick up a couple boveda packets... Cheap, easy and maintenance free.

Just go with a tupperware container for $10 or less that will hold 25-50 sticks, throw in a Boveda packet and be done for less than $20. If you find out down the road it isn't for you, you still have the tupperware container for kitchen use. I picked up these containers at Walmart for $5 each I think they were. They are Sterilite with snap top lids that are air tight and are about 2 quarts that will easily hold 25 cigars.

Agreed.....but still take your buddy up on the free travel humi. They are great for road trips and herfs!:guitar:
