I def do, esp if I have to relight. It also helps cool the smoke down if it gets too hot.

I may be wrong, but isn't the point of purging to super heat the tobacco and rid of the bi-products that make it taste bitter? I know the more ammonia, the more you're purging.

Btw, I see a lot of guys saying they do it when it's too hot. If you blow for more then a second or 2 it actually increases the burn/heat a lot.

A guy posted a great blog elsewhere a while back explaining this topic. One of his comments was how he uses long purges to heat the cigar to fix a uneven burn. When I try that it works about 75% of the time.

I first tried that when I was out of matches and my stick started to go out ... it totally works!

I purge only if I let the stick go out/have to leave it or when it gets bitter near the very end. My cigars usually don't burn too hot though as I'm a slow smoker.
