Hey Folks!
Just wanted to share with you my impressions of the best cigar I have had to date. This cigar was gifted to me by a very generous member here and I decided to post here as a thank you and as a review! I can definitely say I now understand why cuban cigars are so special.
The wrapper was smooth and silky with very slight greenish spots here and there. There were some veins, but none were very large.
The pre-light draw was perfect, with a kind of hay like taste to it.
I carefully toasted the foot with my Xikar executive, being careful not to burn it.
The first inch of this cigar was utterly AMAZING! I've never tasted that fruity yet slighly spicy taste before in a cigar...I had to pace myself from taking too many puffs...I just couldn't get enough of this flavor! There was also another flavor present, I just couldn't put my finger on it however...I'm not that great at describing flavors. I was floored already, and this smoke definitely had my full attention!
The next third of this cigar presented a cedary/woody flavor that was very nice. Unfortunatly, a crack started in the wrapper that annoyingly continued for the next inch or so. It eventually resolved itself and did not seem to detract from the taste of the cigar in any way that I noticed. The smoke was thick and fullfilling.
The last third of the cigar picked up in strength some but was never overpowering or unpleasent. The fruitlike taste came back for a puff or two, but then faded into a nice woodsy taste. I was able to nub the cigar easily.
In short, I loved this cigar! If I ever have a chance to pick up a few of these I would do so without hesitation. A *great* smoke!
This is my frist real review...this being the only cigar I've felt strongly enough about to post! Thanks again to a great BOTL who made my habanos wish come true! :smokingbo
