The first premium I ever smoked was a Gurkha Grand Age perfecto. Liked it then, not so much now, but it opened up a door for me. So, today I'm having an Empire II and it is quite good. Nice taste of coffee bean, cedar and a subtle spice. Perfect draw, good construction... And cheap! So, I've sworn off Gukha for awhile, but... Now maybe I'll try the Assassain.. Anybody got an opinion on that one? Damn cool boxes...

Haven't had the Assassin, but there are plenty of Gurkhas I like. Just don't pay attention to MSRP--when buying them off CI, they make plenty of nice $3-$6 cigars.

Although, I've not had the Assassin, I find that Gurkhas are hit or miss for me... I've had some great ones, and some that were just plain bad.

they have done a good job pulling the wool over the eyes of the average smoker. The bands and boxes are nice. And inevitably they are going to produce a couple good cigars. I mean with 75 lines of cigars, at least 3-4 are gonna be decent. I just don't have the patience to try them to find that one decent stick.

I would have to agree. The few good ones have been GOOD ones but that unfortunatly hasnt been the norm. You can pick them for a fair price on cbid as well.

To each their own, I really enjoyed the centurian perfecto (courtesy of L8A) regardless of what I'd been hearing about Gurkah, I think I might try the legend tonight.

both of those are the ones i will smoke...but i would never buy a gurkah at a shop for MSRP. The $30 sticks they have aren't worth $10. But at $5 they are good enough.

Exactly. For what you can get them for online, they make some nice sticks. I like:

Titan
Beast
Boer
G3
Ghengis Khan
Legend
Nepalese Warrior
Grand Age
Royal Brigade
Blue Steel
Triple Ligero

and I will occasionally smoke a Centurion and Symphony. I have not tried most of the newer ones yet.

I personally think Gurkha puts all thier money into the nice bands and boxes rather than the actual cigars.
Completely agree. I've never had the Assassain, but have smoked the Legend, Fury, Black Dragon, and Status...all only once. There was an event at a local shop and I got a sampler. Overall just didn't hit the spot.

I'll tell you, though, I would like to try the G3 at some point... Actually, I think that I may get one when I make my way up to Gettysburg!!!!!

I too agree with Nuckz, but that's what is great about cigar smoking, we all have different tastes and likes!

Smoked boxes of the Masters Select and Legends. I have over 50 of the Centurian Perfectos. Pull one out every once and a while and they are still great. I agree with most tho that so many sticks at mediocre at best.

the anctient reserve is a great smoke its a 12 year old cigar, the assin (evil ) is realy good and on a side note the assin was blended by the gurka reps. i know one that was flown down to south america and spent like 3 weeks with the whole group blending that cigar.
