Not sure where you're going with this but VR is worth the money how well the current production is smoking I wouldn't know haven't smoked one in a while but I'm sure someone with better knowledge will come around soon enough.

I've never been a young VR fan but have had some good aged examples from 01 & 02. To me this is a brand like the Sancho Panza that needs some age to be at its best (5+ years). Imho if you are looking to smoke these now pick another brand, the 07 SLR Regios are smoking good now as are the 06-08 RASS both can be found easily.

I have only a few 07 VR Famosos left, and they are phenomenal. I just got in a box of 09's, but haven't lit one up yet. The Famosos are one of my favorite CC's.

I think VR in general needs a few years on them, imo. I've had some from 01, 02 that were fantastic. I've had ones with less than 3 years that were less than stellar. I haven't smoked anything newer than 07 though...so I'm unsure about OTT stuff.

07 Rass man i wish i wasn't so new at the cc game. Smoked my last 07 (1st box buy) 2 months ago. What a treat to a young cc smoker such as myself.

RASS is maybe the best Habano robusto IMO. and sooo cheap.
I've heard more than one oldster refer to the newer RASS as very similar to the Dunhill Cabinettas when they were smoked new.

VRs are good, especially the Unico. It's not hard to find some with age.
They are a bit 'sweet' or 'salty' for some.

Sancho/RA are strong and green cigars while young.
Not as spicy as a Partagas, more earthy and green.
To me the 'greenest' cigar is Punch.
I can't even smoke them they taste so acrid to me.
Supposedly they are amazing if you buy them and smoke them in 20 years :) :)

Have some VR Famoso right now.
I would go with Upman Mag 46s, PSP#2's, Juan Lopez #2, or RASS over them in that order. Actually there are more I would go with over them, but those I have really enjoyed of late.

Thanks again for all the info. Yea, the RASS 08 is going to be stellar. If only I could just keep my hands off them now.

So, I just put the fire to an 07 VR Unicos and to sum it up: Fabulous!!!

Lot of creamy coca, a little caramel, very smooth....Sorry I split these up :( but at least I kept a few myself.....If I could find another 07 box I would snag it up in a heartbeat!

'98 Famosos are some of the best cigars in my humidor right now.
If you think those are good you should try and find yourself some '97's which are the original release one's. Those are just so creamy!!

Have some VR Famoso right now.

The Epi2's are also excellent as are the H. Upmann Connie 1's from '08.

As I stated above the '08 H. Upmann Connie 1's are damn good smokes and I think will only improve with time. They have started to turn now but give them another 6 months or so and you will be handsomely rewarded I think!
