Okay, so im pissed and need to vent! I made my first order off of Cbid last week. It shipped via UPS on the 11th. According to online tracking info, my package has been in town since yesterday. However, when I called to check yesterday why it hadnt been delivered, the lady on the 1800 number gave me some story about how my package would be delivered to the local post office and since the post office was closed on monday, it wouldnt be delivered. I didnt really understand that, but I told myself "Whatever, its one day, not a big deal."

So, today, I got home from class and still no package. I checked my tracking number and it said "in transit to final destination." From my experience, this usually means that the truck is out on his route. So I figured he just hadnt been to my apartment yet, which was unusual because I normally get deliveries around 12-2pm. So, I called the Local UPS store and talked to a lady. She took my name and address and tells me, "Oh, yes, he should be there sometime after 5." Okay, Im thinking cool, ive got time to get some dinner and when i come back they should be here.

So, my Girl friend and I get back from Qdoba about quarter after 5 and I see the UPS truck driving away from my apartment complex. My room mates were home so I knew he should have had someone to accept the package. I walk into my apartment and guess what? No package.

I called the local office back, gave the woman my tracking number and tell her that I just saw the deliver guy driving away from my apartment yet I hadnt gotten my delivery. "oh...yeah well it looks like we delivered it to the post office today and they should deliver it to you tomorrow." At this point im Really confused. Why would UPS deliver my package to the post office? She tells me that they have some agreement with the postal service that with some packages they deliver it to them and the post office delivers it instead. She then says "well, you can pick it up at their...oh, no its after 5. theyre closed." Of coarse its after 5! You told me wait till after 5 for my package to be delivered!

So, the UPS guy dropped my package off at the post office then drove through my apartment complex to presumably make another delivery. Why the HELL didnt he just bring my package to me!? This makes absolutely no sense to me and im SO pissed off. What advantage does this agreement they have with the postal service have to the customer? In my case, it means my package is delayed an entire day. Who Decides this detour? The UPS lady told me that some vendors specify different delivery methods. So why would Cbid decide to have my package delivered this way? I used to get my Cigar.com/CI shipments in 3 days when they shipped with USPS. now that they have gone to UPS, I take at least 4 or 5, and in this case, 6. So, they have effectively doubled my shipment time. Thanx.

I really want to complain to someone but I didnt know if I should call UPS, Cbid or USPS. Good thing I have outlets like BOTL to share my frustration. Thanx for reading...

Well my experience has been that we usually get packages from UPS and FEDEX to finish deliveries to houses that they don't want to deliver to cause it's out of there way. Seems like either the shipper or UPS wants to save a buck.

Yeah, but thats the thing...my apartment complex isnt out of the way. My university is in a somewhat small town whos population almost doubles when class is in session. My apartment is in town. He even drove right through my complex today, just not with my delivery.

Why would UPS deliver to the post office???
I have no idea...still scratching my head on this one. I ordered something for my girlfriend a day afterwords and the UPS lady told me that it would be delivered directly from UPS. She informed me that the "PT" in my tracking number for my cbid order designated "postal transfer" and that my other package didnt have this number so it wasnt being handed over to the post office. Its absolutely screwy...

Hi guys I have a simple explanation and you will think it is sill as I do but it is what it is. So I made my first purchase off Cbid last week and I received the tracking # and while tracking it I realized unlike all my other hundreds of UPS packages I get there was no expected delivery date so that caused me to do some investigation, mind you Cbid tells you nothing about this which means Cbid is more to blame, on the tracking info page it says service type (Basic) now if you google UPS Basic you will find this http://www.mindfully.org/Industry/2003/UPS-Through-USPS6nov03.htm
which will tell you a lot, basically in trade for UPS using their planes to ship all USPS airmail UPS offers a Basic service which ships like UPS ground but the USPS delivers the package to the destination.

Hope this helps with the problem.

All i can say is that the USPS is doing some wierd deals trying to increase revenue. all i know is don't try to make any sense of it and just go with the flow.

Wow...Thanx for the explanation! I also noticed no expected delivery date. At least I got a good deal. I picked up my first Pepins in a 6 stick Pepin sampler for less than $3 a stick. Cant wait!

I have ordered things from companies and had this very thing happen. After asking the post office people they told me that they get a truck from ups every morning.
