Better late then never. Thanks Brian!

And here's something I need help with: Why are there 2 different versions of the Tat West?

I just got a Tat West "Lado Occidental" (far right) and it doesn't look anything like my West "West Side" that I already have (Middle). The East side (Far Left) is just for reference.

Why would there be 2 different west sides with different bands, and different lengths? Is there another version of the East Side out there that I'm not aware of?

Only explanation that I can come up with for this is the shorter "West Side" stick was mislabeled, as that appears to be the East Coast/Zona del Este vitola (5.5" x 54).

Never seen a West Coast like that before...:dunno:

That has to be misbanded...what is the size/rg?

Here are some pics side by side. The order goes: "Verocu West Side" (Cigar in question), "Exclusivo Zona Del Este" (East side), "Exclusivo Lado Occidental" (west side)

The "West side" is 5 1/2 inches in length, same length as the east side. But the ring gauge is smaller. It appears to be 50 RG, While the East side is 54.

Even if it is mis-labled, that doesn't explain why there are 2 different west side bands.

Is it a clipped Westie? Someone might have damaged the foot pretty bad and chopped it off...

There ARE two different West Side and two different East Side labels. At some point in the middle of production, they changed the names "Lado Occidental" and "Zona Del Esta" to "West Side" and "East Coast". I think it was done because the Spanish names were confusing to people or something. I dont remember the story, but it was done.

As far as your Short Westie goes, I would say that either the cigar was chopped off due to damage OR it is fake. I know the fake this sounds far-fetched, but it is possible someone could have done it as a joke or possibly even sold them to an unsuspecting customer and ripped them off.

Is that a small crack by the foot, visible in the top picture? It's hard to tell from the pictures. If it is, I would agree with others that someone probably cut off more damage.

Thanks everyone for your help on this one. This had me stumped when I first came across it. As with every smoke, there could be a possibility that it could be fake. I traded with a close friend (not over BOTL), and doubt he would go through the troubles of pulling that off. But then again, theres no telling who had it before him... At the end of the day, there is no way to be 100% certain.

The cut is very clean and even, and the length is EXACTLY 5 1/2. But since the wrapper looks very similar, and the band doesn't seem to have been tampered with, I'm going to lean towards the idea that it was clipped due to damage.

Thanks again for the help clearing this up. I could have seen this bothering me to no end.

I had smoked plenty when they were released, but as a rookie, I couldn't appreciate them as I can now. I fired one up as soon as I opened the package last night. Amazing stick......I burnt my lips and fingertips on the nub!!!
