I have an antique cedar chest, I was wondering if I reline it in spanish cedar can i use it as storage? Of course id be making sure that it seals correctly. Can I just go over the existing cedar or do I have to yank that cedar out, not sure if thats even possible.

Well you dont have to take out the old cedar if it shows to be a pain in the ass. There are many Wood Sealers on the market that you can use to cover the old before putting in the new.

Actually a good idea with a cedar chest. Sometimes finding room for cabinets, etc can be challenging, but using a chest at the end of bed makes sense. It will always be in a climate controlled area and always under your watchful eyes.

thanks for the heads up, Im thinking this is going to be tough to take out. Ill keep you posted on how this goes. If it goes good its going to solve ALOT of my problems(to many smokes) as this chest as I remember is pretty big.

I know someone who uses a ceder chest as a humi. It works great.
Cedar chests are made from aromatic cedar to ward off moth infestaions....

The cedar for a humidor is spanish cedar and IS DIFFERENT!!!!!

Unless he did a major retro fit on it, he is DOING IT WRONG. look in you laundry aisle at the grocery store, and smell the block of cedar they sell with the coat hanger hook. ( moth protection) it is substantially different than a humidor. If he is storing his cigars in the chest with out retofitting it with Spanish Cedar, please make sure none of those cigars get sold or traded on this board.

SO I should not have used the aromatic cedar kit for closets at Lowes for my walk-in? Just kidding I have the bill to prove the spanish cedar.
