Before I joined BOTL I'd been smoking cigars on and off for roughly 5 years and while I always enjoyed it, I couldn't get over how turned off I was by cigarettes. Of course cigars are superior to cigarettes (flavor, aroma etc.) but I couldn't help but wonder how many others either enjoy both, used cigarettes as a stepping stone to cigars, or just share the same view as I do.

Well instead of consulting some long list of google stats, I thought I'd just ask you guys :stretchgr

I've switched between the two several times. But when I look back and compare, it seems that I smoked cigarettes when:

I was a teen
During one of my divorce's
When I started my business

And I smoked cigars when times were good and my life was more relaxed and sane.

I quit smoking cigarettes back in 06. Best decision I ever made. Now I can't stand the smell of them.

I smoke cigarettes - American Spirit and Nat Sherman's. I don't enjoy them as much as cigars but they have their own taste that I do like.

My Dad was in the hospital having his bladder removed, the doctor swore it was cigarette smoking that caused it even though he had quit 15 years earlier. While visiting him he asked me to do him a favor and quit smoking cigarettes and I never lit another one since. It's been 15 years for me now and yes I do have concerns of my own but nothing that a good oscuro won't help to take the edge off of.

I'm certainly not a fan and can't generally stand the smell of cigarettes. I can tolerate sometimes though because while its not my choice to burn them it's someone else's choice and we're still allowed to make some choices.

I smoked cigarettes for something to do when I worked a boring job. I got hooked, and was about a pack a dya for a few years. Then the tax on them made the price jump from $2 to $4, and I dropped the habit right then. Maybe 10 years ago. I still have one now and then when I am drinking. I have a buddy that smokes both, and will acctually put his cigar down, smoke a cigarette, and then continue with his cigar. To each his own.

Quit in 2000. Started with cigars in college then went to cigarettes. Then did both for a couple of years. Now when I look back on it I say to myself WTF. And yea, now I can't stand the smell of them.

I smoked about a pack and a half of cigarettes a day for about 6 years while smoking about 4 cigars a year. Just on special occasions. I quit both for a year using cigars as my incentive. I told myself that if I quit smoking for a year first, I could then start smoking cigars again. Haven't had a cigarette since.

I smoked cigarettes a LONG time ago but it wasn't a stepping stone for me. I always admired the cigar smoker and the cigarette thing was a late H.S. bust for me, dumb idea.
