Ok so I waited over two years ago for the new cooling chip to be put in the Xbox 360 Elite (Nov 2007) and then today it breaks down with you guessed it the "Red Ring Of Death". This was not supposed to happen according to X-box. The new chip was supposed to ensure this didn't happen. Well Son of a b**** am I pissed!!!:argh: So now I have to send this back in for repairs and you know what that means....a stupid ass 90 day guarentee when it gets back. On top of that I can purchase a 3yr warrenty for around $90 bucks! That's extortion in my book. If you don't have the problem fixed shouldnt you provide another 3yr warrenty on that issue? Ok so I basicaly have no choice and this is on there dime but if it should happen again...Microsft can kiss my ass because I'll be buying the Playstation instead!!! Cram that in your ass Mr. Gates!!!!:angerFU:

Yea, I'm on my second. Had the first one repaired so many times, it just wasn't worth the aggravation.

terrantheman: If you have the cooling fan that plugs into the xbox for it's power source, it's actually worse. It makes the system run hotter by powering the fan. What I've done is purchased a laptop cooling device and an adapter for the usb to plug into the wall receptacle. Keeps everything nice and cool.

wasn't there a class action lawsuit brought against microsoft because they new the system had like a 40% failure rate and still released it so they could have a head start on sony.

That TOTALLY sucks, bro! Nearly all of my 360-owning friends have RRoDed, a couple of them multiple times.

If you can live w/out ME and GoW games, it might be cheaper to get a PS3. Remember--all the money you've put into the 360 is sunk cost, you just have to think about what a system will cost you over the next 4 more years or so (factoring in that you'll probably be w/out a 360 for 6 months of that time if you go that route).

And with a PS3 you get God of War, Uncharted, and other great stuff. I went PS3 personally, and go to friends to play the xbox exclusives. I like PSN a lot better (less 13-year-old felons, lol), plus Blu-Ray.

I'm not trying to go all fanboy on you, just putting out an option you may not have considered. I really feel for you about the xbox-- suckville.

My PS3 failed on my once...aka the yellow light...it lasted since the original release date ( I have the original 60GB) I paid 150, they sent a box that came in 2 days, I shipped it out and it came back in 3 days with a brand new PS3...not refurbished or anything...And the Blu-Ray and full backwards compatibility sold me originally

No problems with my Atari, Space Invaders and Tank can sometimes heat it up but a quick round of Missile Command and all is back to normal.

Haha that's funny. You could spill your ovaltine on it, drop that sucker of your bed, kick it across the floor and it would still play!!!

Well seeing how my body needs alot of down time durring the day I really liked having the X-box because of the interaction with gaming and online chat with other friends and family. I just hope it doesn't take thet long to get it fixed and back home. If it happens again I will probibly buy the PS3 however I wont be able to play with everyone......I just don't know:scratchhe

I also like the fact that I don't need to convert videos to any specific format. I can burn a whole seasons's worth of stuff onto a dvd as a data dvd and the PS3 will play it...It's also convenient with the plug and play usb flash drive to play videos, also not needing specific converting...Did I mention blu-ray :starrylov

hello everyone, im new to this site so i have just just been reading and learning about the fine art of smoke the stick but this is one thing that i do know about, if you are still have problems with your xbox (or ps3) it might be because of power spikes. i recommend using a good power strip that has a capacitor. it should help out all of your eletronics. I know a guy that went through 5 xboxs last year, all with the red ring of death, all because messed up the wiring when he remodeled his living room.
