i know many of us have received fake cigars domestic and foreign (mainly mexican) but today i seriously got it.

a few months ago, a member of my local cigar club brought in counterfeit opus x and started handing them out like they were gold. after this member handed me the foulest smelling, ridiculously over-sized, and dot matrix print job cigar, he asked for a nice foreign stick in return. i slipped a decent stick (casa magna oscuro) onto a bolivar no.2 tubo band and tubed it. well, this counterfeit collector thought he had the best smoke of his life.

so, today i ran into "halon" from botl and mentioned that i had always wanted to try a tatuaje t110 but i missed the limited bus. he said he smoked his last one but he returned an hour later with a t110 stick in hand demanding it get smoked immediately. it looked a little light compared to pictures i had seen but i foolishly trusted him to hook me up with a decent stick. I smoked it and it was admittingly decent but had a weird bite to it and never had a kick all the reviews claimed it should. soon after finishing the stick i was informed i had been victim of a dog rocket reband...i got what was coming to me.

now lets hear your good re-band stories!

Not sure why you would want too, unless to f*k with your buddies. I do have one similar, a guy was passing cigars out, he gave me some unbanded cigar and told me it was such and such, like some special pre release smoke. I really didn't want it, as I'm not really into the whole pre-release, smoke it before you can stuff. At this point I felt obligated to give him something, I think I gave him a P2.

If someone gives me a cigar it's because they want to... When I hand someone a cigar, or send a bomb I don't do it to get something back, and the guy that gave you a fake opus asked for a CC in exchange? I would have handed back his amazing opus and told him I don't smoke dog rockets with BS bands.


Oh, and by the way, someone did that to mess with me. They put a Drac band on a Cain Torp, and I ate it up!! I've smoked more Cain torps because of that! good smoke for 6 bux!

tyler (halon) played a re-band joke on me...he's a great person to trade with, point being i guess i deserved to get a re-band since i had dished one out myself.

Added to my list of who not to trade with.

i would trade with tyler (halon) anyday, in fact some of my best sticks have come through (halon) tyler...stand-up dude.

The fact that someone would re-band a smoke to gift someone that gave them a questionable cigar is beyond me. If someone was giving me an obvious fake, I would first bring it to their attention to possibly help them avoid further embarrassment then tell them I didn't want it if they didn't believe me. It would never even cross my mind to re-band a stick. I would rather give them a real opus to have them compare the two than embarrass myself w/ passing off a fake or re-banded stick.

in Nicaragua I seriously wanted to buy a glass top cohiba box to have for shits-n-giggles... but they would not budge on the price... I should have just paid the 20 bux!

I was at my brother's house yesterday and found a glass top cohiba box in one of his wet bar drawers. Then found the cigar from the box in his jar humidor. I had to burst his bubble and inform him along with his FIL that they box was counterfeit along with the cigar. Thanks to one of the brothers here either from my bday pass or secret santa I coincidentally had one with me to show him. I planned on smoking some sticks with him to celebrate his new daughter but it was a bit cool out.
