So I finally got out and mowed the yard today. First time this year at our new house, it was great! The yard is about a third the size of our old house, which makes my job easier :stretchgr. Enjoyed a DPG Firecracker which turned out to be the perfect length of smoke (it was quite tasty too). I have been a bit of a shutter bug lately also and took some time to take some pics which I thought I'd share...

Anyone else out mowing/smoking today?

Yes!

Just finished the front yards, with a nice Viaje Exclusivo Pigtail Robusto!

One of my absoloute favorite things to do around the house is to be out with a great stogie doing yardwork!

Of course no picture set would be complete from the bugman without a picture of an insect, snake, or various creepy crawler :p
Of course :stretchgr! My wife thought something was going on when I yelled for her to bring the camera. Once she realized I was photographing insects she called me a nerd and went back to her Facebook games :squinteye. For those who are interested the grasshopper appears to be an American Bird Grasshopper (Schistocerca americana).

Excellent pics, Dan! Yeah, I get the "nerd", "dork" and "geek" from my wife A LOT!!! Matter of fact, the other day she said... "You should start a business... you could "geek" up anything that's too normal." Wow, thanks, honey.

I've always found insects fascinating... Although I failed entomology in college (could barely understand the prof)

is that a macro lens? it's pretty close on that grasshopper.
Nope, it actually a Kodak point and shoot set on the macro setting. Most point and shoots these days can do decent macro as long as the subject isn't very small and you don't need to get right up on it. One of these days I'd like to get a nice digital with a macro lens though so I can do some mayfly photography when they're hatching.
