Just want to confirm... What cigar/possible year/etc is this?

Thanks in advance.

ADDED: those those that have had it, how does it compare to other CCs?

Looks like a #2 to me. I think the band has been pretty much the same on that cigar for the past 40 years or so. I don't know too much so I'm sure someone will be along to correct me if I got it wrong.

#2 and year is prob 07 or earlier, as I believe they have a different band now, but before 07 it had been the same band for quite some time. Not 100% on all that info btw.

k, those those that have had it, how does it compare to other CCs?
Superb, especially with ~3 - 5 years of age on them. Lighter in flavor than a Monte #2, but excellent nonetheless. The band shown at Lou's is also legit. I do not remember when they made the change.

I'm still a novice student at dating by tobacco strain appearance but the wrapper leaf seems to be similar to what I've seen used for a cigar around 05-07.

The Upmann #2 has very rich tobacco flavors, but not as deep as say a VR or JL. Expect minimal sweetness and a very impressive clean flavor. It is the best in the Upmann line, IMO. No other torpedo is very similar, nor comes close to its quality.

I had not really thought about the wrappers, but would agree based upon anecdotal evidence. Most of my experience has been with '01 - '03. In those strains the wrappers I have seen are very dark and oily. Yeah, I love these. . .

Taking your post to heart, I'll expand what I meant by mine a bit.

Usually, wrapper color is not an indication of strain. What I meant is the thought that certain Cuban tobacco types (Corojo, Habano 2000, corojo 98, Capero uno, etc) have given appearances. Some with large veins, some toothy, some with visible capillaries, etc. Tobacco masters can identify leaf origin & info by sight; I am trying to be able to do this too.

This guy does now these sticks! lol.

The guy I got it from got back to me and he said its "eca oct01" .... guess that solves the date issue.
