I am one of those people, and yes I have smoked many cigars that smell better than they taste.I don't think that's unusual at all.. I know people who like the smell of freshly ground coffee but don't like the taste. Same thing.
Its funny, because I do this too. I find that when diluted in the ambient air, the aroma of a cigar becomes more easily enjoyable.I'm one... When I'm smoking, I will hold the cigar to where the smoke drifts back across me. If I haven't retrohaled yet, the aroma is better than they taste. Although last w/e, I had a RyJ from over there and the taste was equally as good as the aroma. DPG JJ's are a great cigar for the buck!
