A buddy of mine went to a party last night where the hostess had hired a cigar roller for her husband's party. Well, he sent me iPhone pics of this older guy and he's rolling up some 50+ cigars (50 was the required minimum purchase for the hire). He lit one up and swears it was an authentic cc, his first ever cc, and "the best cigar" he's ever had. I'm sure he was shootin straight.

I guess anything's possible; the roller had a small table, bags of alleged cc leaves and the usual tools. What I was wondering is; Would a freshly rolled cigar burn well enough to enjoy it that much?

It's a novel idea, but without drying and aging, could you really appreciate one Right Off The Table?

You usually have a day or two, and yes they are good, until it has to go into the sleep phase... smoked some non-CCs in NICA this year and they were excellent.

Depends on how long the leaves were aged. A fresh rolled can be great. An example would be a Padron. They age their leaves, then roll, box and put them to market.

I agree with Matt 100% on this one. Like he stated, after 48-72 hours, you want to lay those bad boys down for minimally 6 months before you smoke them.

how good a cigar is also depends on how you are feeling at the moment.... at an event having the time of your life.... etc

Wouldn't you like to know?
I have smoked some fantastic cigars right off the table including BHK56 and Cohiba corona especiales. The corona especiales was the bes cohiba I had ever smoked until the GR's came out. I cannot say enough good things about the BHK's either as they are fantastic

Just spoke to my partner a while ago. He said the guy has been rolling for 30+ years and had a photo album of his events with Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Bill Cosby and a host of other celebrities who hire him to roll their cigars. Supposedly, this guy brings the leaves in w/o any issues and he hires out at $300 per event with 50 fresh rolled sticks included.

Common opinion is that they're good right away and need some aging afterwards. That's good to know; I know what I may be doing for my wife's birthday in June... :stretchgr

Thanks!

Just read a piece in CA that swears the the BHK is a return to preeminence for cigars from the little island south of Miami.

What was your take?

We had a roller at our X-mas party a few years ago, and the rolled toro sized smokes that were aimed at the non-smoker--VERY mild. They burned well and weren't offensive in flavor. I have a couple sitting in the humi still, maybe a newbie smoker will need a cigar someday. It was a cool add on to a great party.

The two fresh rolls that I've had were good but I got them at a party I might have enjoyed them more as a result.
