I think they are crap cigars personally. A few are ok, but I can get a much better stick for my hard earned dollar.

Smoked a OWR Corojo yesterday. Yep that's right my Tat whoring ass smoked a RP! I've always like the OWR, Connie, Winterblend. But most his sticks suck and I've tried ALOT of em. So please don't point fingers like most of us havn't given them a shot.( a general statement to all)

I don't think people bag on RP any more than people bag on Pete, Drew, Sam, Dion, Pepin, or any have dozen other cigar manufacture, roller, blender, or frontman. While each of these makes good sticks, there are those others we do not think too highly. But things come up in the industry, drying of cigars, gimmicky yearly promotions, exclusivo limited cigars, and the things that annoy different people, haters come out. It just shows that everyone likes different cigars, their "stuff" but the people start throwing rocks, kind of like in elementary school. Oh then everyone wants to throw rocks.

Those without sin cast the first stone.

I mean it's a brotherhood, but it's a business :hammersma:

and you want to kick their ass. :peace:

Nothing nice to say. You guys smoke all the RP's you want. Have mine too! But, like i always say, smoke what you like! It is all about smoking what you like and avoiding those you don't. Instead of bashing folks that enjoy them, congratulate them on finding something that they truly enjoy smoking.

As for RP himself, he is a great businessman. He puts himself out there all the time, promoting his brand.

i loved the or edge maduro, the 90, 92, and sungrown, but the last time i tried any of these sticks they were totally different blends. the wrappers were even visibly different. i liked the first decade i had, and the patel bros. was decent, but like others have said there are many far greater smokes for the same price and cheaper.

oh, and the one 1961 i had tasted like crap.

As others have said, I won't judge people for smoking something by Rocky. I have no problem with his advertising except that I think he spends money on advertising that he could spend on the cigars and end up with a better product.

I also don't particularly like the way he does business.

On top of that, I don't really care for his cigars and I don't want to start smoking something that I like, then have it change in the future.

I smoked them for years, I had a dozen boxes of them this time last year. But when I saw dye being applied I was done with the brand.

I don't smoke them as often as I used to either, but I think that's mostly because I have so many other cigars now that I also like. But in the last few months I"ve revisited the RP Signature, Fusion (aged), and Edge Lite and still like 'em all :)

I agree with most of you; I like some of Patel's line, and dislike some of it.

I like the Edge Maduro, Decade, Olde World Reserve Maduro, Vintage '90, and the Connecticut (the CI one).

I absolutely hate the Fusion, Fusion MM, Sungrown, and Vintage '99.

I found the Fusions to both be bland and devoid of flavor. I thought the Sungrown was unbalanced and pure strength, lacking complexity. As for the Vintage 1999, it tasted like someone rolled up a bunch of grass and slapped a cigar band on it.

I actually started out a daily smoke with RP when I got into cigars seriously. I liked the Edge's, 90's, and the OWR's the best. My taste has changed alot since then but I still keep thoes three on hand. When I have a sore throat or a sinus issue I find smoking a Edge Lite still can give me some satisfaction without bothering my issues. I'm not at all a RP "Hater" however again he has not been in my regular rotation for a long time. Again with me it's a taste thing and not a hate thing!

Allow me to apologize for bashing the product based on my tastes/experiences. For indeed, the great thing about this community of leafers is the camaraderie and the vast knowledge that is shared.

The admonition to smoke what one likes holds true. For as consumers, we can indeed speak with our feet and our wallets.

That said, I posted over in Events, that RP is going to be visiting Northern California pretty heavily over the next few weeks and I am going to take the opportunity to express my concerns over quality and inquire as to the dyeing of his wrappers.

My objective is to see this community of leafers continue to grow strong, stay ever vigilant towards protecting the community, Overall, I want the industry to thrive and therefore, I am hoping that through diplomacy and dialog I can contribute towards this objective.

Here are the events if anyone is interested:

Here are a couple of events taking place in CA:

I'm sorry if my comments have offended anyone. Different smokes for different folks. I smoke what I like & I hope everyone else does too. Some of the coolest old guys I've herfed with at the lounge were smoking sticks I hated. That didn't mean we didn't have a great afternoon smoking our favorites. Also when I gave them a Tat they hated it as well.
