You can't smoke the "look" of a cigar, so I would rather them use a good blotchy wrapper instead of spreading some goo all over it so it comes out looking like a Hershey bar. But that's just me

Blotchy? That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about patches. On the high dollar smokes. Do they still taste good? Yes. Are they super-cheap and never throw away a single off wrapper? Yes.

They contract a lot of their tobacco.
Hmm I did not know this. A google search provided some info... this is very interesting. From the looks of it they do contract with outside farmers but it's obvious they are very involved. Also, they control all the processing of the tobacco which would explain why their smokes are so consistently good.

In regards to construction.. I've had some x000 series that look just mangled! that is my only complaint about padrons. the 64's and 26's that I've had have been flawless in appearance.

I'm thinking they have just gotten it right, and have not changed anything since. I't not just their expensive stuff either. The londres, x000 series are all very good and very consistent. If I could choose 1 NC brand to smoke forever, it would be Padron...
I agree 100% !
