Steve,

Q4 - if should be of

Also, they any other comments section is hard to answer since the person has no idea what the intent of the business etc is. Maybe add a comment at the start of the survey to explain things. I think you may get a better response that way...

Interesting idea in principle, I just can't see that big of a market for renting gps units especially when you can get them at your local costco for ~100-150 these days. The type of person that might rent them isn't going to care that you have the newest biggest brightest whatever model.

If you worked in conjunction with a car rental company though (ie for an extra $5/day you get a gps unit with your rental) you might be on to something, since I'd figure the client base for that kind of business would be one unfamiliar to the local roads/area...

Ditto....Was thinking the same thing about rental cars, and/or RV rentals (since some folks are conserving vacation dollars by renting RV's for family vacations).

Best of luck!!

With GPS apps becoming more and more available on cell phones are you sure this is a good move? I think I pay $9.95 per month. I use it everyday. I type in pub, it lists every pub within 50 miles and then tells me the fastest way to the pub while avioding any traffic delays. It also ask me if I want to call them 1st.

I think getting into the GPS business would be a little like opening a DVD store in this age of InDemand and Netflix.

In the words of Larry the Cable Guy. "It's like wiping before you poop, it don't make no sense.

Sorry

I admire your ambition - and wish you luck with any future business effort.

I sincerely hope your looking for an honest answer - because I as well have questions concerning the profitability and potential longevity of your proposed enterprise.

But instead of me throwing out a bunch of negative stuff and some hard questions - let me ask a simple one.

Is there ANYBODY else out there doing this ?? Because if one thing in this world is certain - there is somebody out there that already thought of this - and if your business model is not being employed by somebody - there are generally good market reasons why thing are so.

In my opinion - I think you need to continue the brainstorming.

Just remember the lesson from Thomas Edison - there were literally thousands of failures and bad ideas before he finally produced his first commercially successful lightbulb.

Good Luck -

Thanks for all the input guys. Right now we are just kicking the idea around after our last trip getting lost. Nothing is set in stone and we just wanted to see if there would be a market for this in our area. Keep the comments coming!
