If I were you I would go for some Boli CE or RC...never had a bad one.

IMO the HdM EE is the best quality - though, as stated, mild & delicate.
PSD4's are a great value & tons of people like em...
Monte #2 is a classic, but the most expensive of the three.

They all great smokes but sd5 is a limited edition very short and expensive, the monte is the flagship of cuban cigars med to full in body but full flavors. The hoyo is very new release two years now, a toro size medium body and med-full flavor every time smoke
So what di you get?
Agree with most what's been written. HdM is an absolutely terrific smoke and a joy as a changeup to what you might be used to! Partagas D5 not as good as D4 nor SeriesP Number2, Partagas is a fairly reliable brand - BUT age them, age them, age them (same with the Hoyas.)
Monte #2 is the single most well constructed and consistently good smoke out of Cuba. The only problem I have with it is that for the high dollar that cigar fetches, the taste does not evolve the length of the stick - to my way of thinking, anyway. Oh, the taste is smooth and good with a fantastic filler stock. But without exception in the 20 or so I have smoked, the taste and aroma is exactly the same from stem to stern. Whereas, I really enjoy a cigar that skips across several tastes and aromas during its life.

My views are the opposite of most here. I have stopped smoking very many Monte 2's as they seem to be the least consistant on flavour. I like the PSD5 but figure it is 3 years away from being ready to smoke. Love HdM. Sure they are mild but you don't burn out your palate when you are smoking 6 or 8 a day. I love how you can still taste the next cigar after it and they are by far my fav of the 3 when young.
I really like the Especial. I typically like the stronger smokes, but for some reason, the Especial tastes great to me even though quite mild. I think it has some excellent subtleties of flavor that make it a wonderful cigar.
I smoked a Monte #2 last weekend and it was the second one I have ever had. It was creamy, I guess the description would be leathery. Everywhere I read, people say the Monte line is what most smokers go through when it comes to CC.
I am new to smoking and enjoy a shorter smoke. Monte 2 is huge at 52 ring gauge and 6 plus inches I believe, so the smoke took forever, atleast hour and a half for me, but wasnt timing it.
I find the Monte 4, at 42 gauge and 5 plus inches to be more my size to my personal preference.
The other two I have not had or had the pleasure of different sizes of those brands so I cannot comment.

Nice, floral, and very complex. Very consistent.

Often has draw problems and other burning inconsistencies. Very overpriced for what you get, ala Cohiba.
Partagas Serie D No. 5
Depends on the year. Great construction, strong almost bitter (walnut) flavors.
Final advice....Find a (reputable) retailer who will let you try 2-3 single sticks of each, and see what YOU like!
