Well, my quest to acquire a wine-a-dor ended today after many weeks of scouring online ads, searching fleabay and craigslist. I've been fretting over rising temps in my humidors and coolidors, and I knew it was only going to get worse!
Last nite I stumbled across a craigslist ad for a 28 Bottle Vinotemp ($125.00 or best offer...) and the seller was just a few miles away. I shot the seller an email and kept my fingers crossed all day until she finally replied late this afternoon. "It's still here if you want to come see it," she said.
So I made the nervous trip over there, fully expecting to be disappointed by a misleading description or a faulty unit. Much to my surprise, the hardly used Vinotemp was in excellent shape and it quickly cooled down within just a few minutes of being plugged in. I couldn't pay her fast enough and get baby out to my truck!
So, I brought it in, gave a it a quick once over with a damp towel and commenced to cooling off my cigars.
I'll back-track and set it up properly; Spanish cedar trays, Heartfelt beads, ETC and such, but for now, I just put two of my humis inside, loaded it with a few "special" boxes, transferred some cigars to empty boxes and slipped about 1/4 lb of beads in a plastic container along with a few humi pillows. My largest humi wouldn't fit, so I took out the tray and slipped it into the top shelf. She's purring fine at 69% RH and 67 degrees!
So, now I'm open for advice! I've left my humidification devices in the humis and the various boxes are slightly open. I'll keep a close eye on the vitals and watch for any major fluctuations. I guess getting the proper ratio of beads is the first order, then I'll experiment with shallow cigar boxes or open containers while I figure out something on the trays.
I'm just stoked at finally getting the major component in hand!
