all you naysayers need to try a guapo with out a band and just close your eyes and ponder it. I'm telling you it is the most Cuban you'll find in a non-Cuban. Not saying it is the same, but it is close.
just be sure you're not driving the car when you do it like dave does.

The new El Triunfador blend had a few aspects to it that really reminded me of some of the classic Cuban tastes.

Please do not take this the wrong way, I'm not trying to offend anyone at all, but this is a question that can not really be answered IMO. I really don't know how someone can define a "Cuban" flavor when they all taste so different. If a Monte tastes different from cohiba which tastes different from bolivar etc, there is no single Cuban flavor. And as far as the term "twang" goes, I have been smoking ccs for a long time and I don't know what the hell that means. To me something that is twangy is a bit spicy and sharp. Well there sure are plenty of cigars that fit that bill and are not from cuba. I've had the cabaiguans and they are good cigars, but to say they are reminiscent of all cuban cigars just makes no sense to me.

I have not found an NC that taste just like a CC but when I firsdt smoked a J21 it remided me of a CC more than any other.

On a somewhat similar question wich NC might have that strong "barnyard" smell in the box. As a Veterinarian I am intimately familiar with the smell of horse and cow poop, and when I open a box of CC there is definatlely a sweet dried ranch smell that I don't find in NC boxes I might buy.

Non of them for me, if they were even close to I would not smoke them ever. I smoke nicaraguan because I like the flavors profile and so do I with dominican. Obviously I smoke nc's because I want something different.

No nc I can think of ever made me think, "hey, this is like a cc." My wife is also pretty good at guessing nc or cc just by the smell of the smoke if that means anything. And I definitely have not run across a box of nc that had that funky barnyard cc smell either.

Agreed. Its funny. I have been buying up NC and really enjoying them. Some excellent cigars out there right now from Pete, E Carillo, Pepin, Viaje etc. I kinda backed off from the CC's. A few weeks ago picked up six boxes. I can't believ what I have been missing. A completly differnt smoke that is just in a different class. Cohibas, Partagas, HDM all incredible sticks that are far and above what I had been smoking. I still love my Tatuajes but when I want a truly great cigar I just have to go back to the island.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I just find nearly every NC is missing something, and I can't put my finger on it. Not saying all CC's are good, but every bad CC I have ever had, has been 100 times better than any bad NC I have ever had.

I'd rather have a Forbidden X than a Cohiba.
I'd rather have a Tatuaje SW Maduro than a Monte Cristo.
I'd rather have a Tat Black than a Partagas.

Yes the ISOM's have a unique flavor - some aspects can be reproduced elsewhere, but IMHO the quality of cigars & tobacco coming out of DR & Nica are far superior to that which is coming out of the Dictatorship of Cuba.

Also:
I have never had half of a box of NC plugged.
I have never found string in an NC cigar either.

Amen. I guess my palate is severely lacking. I enjoy CCs but not near as much as I enjoy Nic tobacco cigars and a few DR cigars.
