what nc cigar(s) taste very cc to you?

Agreed, I feel as though most cubans (not all) lost what they used to have back in the day. There are alot of sticks out there that are way better in my opinion. Not sure what it is, could be the soil, could be anything; i just believe that its something.

I wish I had more as in years of experience with cc's to chime in on this but I am rather new to cc's and the few I've had in my opinion have there own taste flavor. Quite different to any nc's which I've smoke alot of. That being said If I could by a box of Cohibas Siglo's to any box of NC's the Siglo's whould win my favor!
For me this is like comparing apples to oranges and some days I want an apple others an orange. Over the past 10 years I've grown to enjoy CC's more than NC's that is not to say there are not some great NC cigars. Anything Padron usually is excellent as are most Nic cigars. Dominican tobbaco almost always leaves a metallic taste that I do not enjoy but I've had some great cigars with Dom tobacco.
I try a lot of cigars and I've come to the conclusion I like Puros best or those with Nic tobacco and maybe the wrapper from somewhere else. This is my opinion and worth what you paid. Smoke what you like and enjoy not what others may tell you is "the best".

this is a silly and amusing thread...nc and cc are very differant as many have said before me...if you want a cc, smoke one. if you want something that tastes similar to a nc you currently enjoy, try a different nc brand with a similar blend...
the thread in general has the sense of "i want something i can't get so what's close."

I smoked a RyJ Havana Cazadore and a few days later smoked a Tat Havana Cazadore and they were strikingly almost the same cigar.

Somebody here said once that Pete modeled most of the brown labels after specific Cubans. Not sure if that's true, but if so maybe that similarity is intentional!

Although a very fun discussion, I think that for me it all comes down to this:
the best cigar for me to smoke is the one I feel like smoking right now. Sometimes I just want a certian thing, or a certian genre, or just something "spicy" or "creamy," or whatever. And sometimes (often) I want that Nica tobacco flavor, other times I do want that cc tobacco flavor. For me it's not so much which is better, it's which is better NOW.
Though I will day that now that I've had some ccs that were really good, I do find myself wanting them more often than before.

A bit far for me, but then my palate isn't as developed as many of you guys, so it could be that as time goes on the differences will be more noticable.
As it is, I can usually tell if I'm smoking an islander, or if the guy next to me is for that matter. There is a distinctive aroma and to a lesser degree (imvho) flavor--as other have said, there is a ton of variety on that island, lol.

I always thought the La Ricky #4 was strikingly similar to the RyJ Short Churchill, though a bit spicier, I also have found many similarities between the Tat brown line & Monte Cristos...

Clearly people taste different things and that's ok. But to say there is no similarities sees funny to me. At least one company has built almost his whole brand on the ability to capture cc flavors and likeness in some of his nc cigars. His popularity, his own admission of doing this, his flavors, and many of the posts in this thread alone...all confirm he's been able to do this very well. And that's just one brand, I can think of a few others that have achieved cc flavors in nc.
For those that insist this isn't happening...I guess I have to assume that's a pallete thing.
Anyways, it's been fun to see the cigars that this is true for you guys on....keep them coming when you find them....very interesting.

All great points. I love Petes stuff and my opus, but it takes an amazing stick with special yumyum qualities to equal a regular production...say psd4 rott, I could smoke those everyday and say wow, what a damn fine cigar. There are yumyums everywhere these days, I believe we are living in a golden age of cigar quality and radness... But there is just something magical about that island, not to take away from everyone that makes damn fine nc smokes..
