planning a trip to mardis gras 2011, wondering if any brothers here have a tips or suggestions on where to stay, what to see, what to avoid. We are all on kind of a budget so any money saving tips would be appreciated. Don't mind staying a little out of the quarter and walking. not going to have a car so need to be withing walking distance or public transport is good also. thanks in any advance for the help

to save money bring a flask or a cooler with wheels. alcohol prices are outrageous, and the frozen drinks are usually pretty weak. uptown and the quarter will be the only places within walking distance, and there won't be many bargains to be had.

my best advice would be to bring a Ball Park Buddy (over the tip catheter), or you'll spend the majority of your time in line at a port-o-potty. full nudity for the ladies is OK, but the cops will throw you in jail for public urination!

I went in 1984, I don't remember anything, and I don't think it was only the booze. Oh, I do remember not being able to move on Bourbon Street on Fat Tuesday. If you wanted to travel up/down the street you had to move one street away and then go back to Bourbon Street where you wanted to be. That and don't ogle any bare breasted people with mustaches.

If u want to hear some good music and eat some good food,I think its called French St. Walking there you will bump into one or two cigar shops. I of them has rollers. There is also a shop on Bourbon street that has rollers.
Enjoy

The W in the Quarter. Last thing you want to do is have a place a bit of a ways from Bourbon only to have to walk after a night of boozin'. I was there a month ago and was glad to pay a bit to be as close as I was...a block from Bourbon.
