that's crazy, politicians say tax going to raise 440 million. NO IT WONT the loss of sales and bootleg cigarettes will make it more like 200 million and then they'll wonder why the budget is out of wack. when will this end. why not cut the pay of state legislature 20% or at the very least the expense accounts

im in NY and im happy i live close to a reservation that has a great cigar selection because i cant see many B+M's staying open with this tax

Taxes in Canada have inflated the price of cigarette sales here to about roughly the same price as they appear to be in NY. Fortunately I don't smoke cigarettes, unfortunately, cigars seem to have only been hit harder by tobacco taxes here, you just can't win!
