Suggestions?

We have the external hard drives, but I want to take it a step further. I'm looking at something that will do a daily backup of 3 computers. I want the backups on externals, and online as well. I've heard good things about Acronis software, and Carbonite as well. Just wanted to see if anyone here had any experience with either, or had any better ideas.

Thanks!

I've always had issues with hard drives and started using Carbonite about 3 years ago and have had no problems. It runs in the background, costs less than $5 a month and allows me access to my files from anywhere.

You could also look into Connected. We use it at a few of our smaller clients. (I'm an IT consultant) it's similar to Carbonite.

Thanks for all the replies, I appreciate all the help!

I've been seeing commercials for it, and it was one I was really considering. It's good to hear from someone that's been using it for so long, that it works so well.
get some identical drives and run raid
This is what I use HERE works flawlessly and does backups automatically.
I like those two ideas, but I really don't need to add any more to our RV. I already have a desktop, and 3 laptops in here. More weight wouldn't be good for moving down the road. The other big con with those, is that I want something offsite, in case we get caught in a windstorm, fire, etc. Too many variables with our traveling.

connected works nicely but is rather pricey and causes a lot of issues with a large environment.
I looked at Connected's site. I've always heard good things about Iron Mountain. Does it offer any benefits over Carbonite?

Great idea, but remember RAID is not backup. It'll protect you from a drive failure, but if you accidentally overwrite a file, it will be faithfully overwritten on any redundant copies in the RAID set. RAID and backup work together to maximize your data protection.

Personally, I'm a big fan of Mozy. Same basic idea as Carbonite. I'm still looking for a similar solution for Linux.

I use Acronis for personal and commercial imaging and have done so for many years. Never had a failure or an image that could not be recovered.

Thanks guys! We finally found a RV park with really good WiFi, and I setup Carbonite. I setup synctoy on our computers, and the laptops sync to the desktop, and then I have that one upload the goods.

Now I have an excuse to get what I really want to buy.
