Hey all,

Got back last night from New Orleans, after attending IPCPR as a guest of a local B&M. It was a quite an experience. I had a chance to hang out with a number of BOTLs that I already have met, as well as meet quite a few more. I am told that the show wasn't nearly as packed with people as in the past. I would bet the economy affected that. Also, the show cleared out quite a bit from day to day, as the weather was damn hot and muggy, but also the threat of a Tropical Storm that popped out of nowhere. Luckily, it weakened and turned into heavy rain showers.

There are a number of releases coming as you know. I didn't get a chance to smoke everything, but will try to take some time to write up some reviews as I get to the ones I did bring back.

I can say right now that there are some very good sticks coming from the My Father factory...and not just branded My Father. Of course anything that Pete is bringing out falls under this category, but the La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor (distributed by Ashton), the Nestor Miranda Art Deco, the Forcade and Giralda cigar line (blended by Jaime Garcia), and a soon-to-be released new line from Miami Cigars, called La Sirena. That one I believe will be a favorite for any fan of Connecticut Broadleaf!

Of course, there is a bunch of hype surrounding the eminent release of the Dirty Rat. But for those that don't know, there will soon be a T52 version of the Flying Pig, as well as a Double Corona and Belicoso size of the T52.

Pete Johnson worked with S.T. Dupont to bring out a sick lighter/cutter combo featuring The Face. You can see the set and pictures of The Face and Coffin in my album listed below.

Dion from Illusione has his new candela and maduro wrapped hl's out now, but of course in limited quantity now. Hopefully we can see these become a regular release, but it would depend on how well these one's sell now. Also, you may have heard of the Singulare. It will appear each year as a distinct size each year in a box of 15. Dion also talked a little bit about a couple of other things is has looked into with the Illusione line. I can't say anything about them now, but I hope to see if they can come to fruition. Don't forget, the Dominicos (5 5/8 x 46) from the Cruzado line will soon disappear, and will be replaced by two new sizes.

E.P. Carrillo launched their new core line, which is supposed to be similar in nature to the Short Run. I haven't tried the one I received yet, but will post up on it when I do. The same goes for the Limited Edition EPC that will be out soon as well.

Pinar Del Rio officially launched the reblended line of cigars. Also, Eric was at the show, along with Tim, they both were handing out samples of the BOTL cigar. I have had a chance to smoke the cigar already, and I really enjoyed it. Also, from what I understand they had tremendous feedback about it from those at the show that tried it too.

All of the LFD whores on here will soon see a number of new cigars hit (and that didn't even include the Small Batch 3...which supposedly is already allotted out). The Salamone maduro looks gorgeous! The Air Bender series now includes a chisel, but it is longer than the traditional chisel size, and thus not included in the Chisel Sampler. The LG Puro line now has a lancero available (no word on oscuro or maduro versions). And finally, the OYA sampler is a 5-stick maduro sampler, which includes a Coronado Maduro Double Corona and a Maduro Airbender Guerro.

Palio has a new gift set which includes 3 special sizes of their Esencia cigars (which I really love)...one of which is a lancero. Also, it includes an Esencia branded Palio cutter. It is quite a nice little gift set....can't wait to pick one up.

Speaking of cutters, Xikar has a couple of new ones available. One is their attack on the Palio. It features two-finger cutter action, but a single moving blade. It is available in a few finishes, including polished stainless steel, titanium, and a true carbon fiber. Also, there is a new V-cutter, not from Wolf, but has a similar blade. The construction is solid, and feels good in the hand. It also can turn over and has a curved bottom to act as a cigar holder.

Kurt Kendall, creator of the 7-20-4 cigar line, brought out two new sizes: Londres and Dog Walker. I can't recall actual sizes, but along the lines of corona and short corona. Obviously these smaller ring gauges will bring out more flavor from the wrapper. I will let you know my impressions of the Dog Walker soon.

Andre Farkas at Viaje Cigars brings out a new line of cigars, Satori, and an extension to the Fifty-Fifty line. Three sizes will be available for the Satori, one of which is a box-pressed double perfecto (think Padron 80th). The red-band Fifty-Fifty, is a tamer version of the original. Rather than being a med/full transitioning to full strength cigar, Andre said this one will be a medium transitioning to full strength cigar.

I took a number of pictures, but not a ton. You can find the album here:

I will try to edit the captions soon. Any questions, let me know.

Great pics Jere, looks like you had a great time! How did you like that Art Deco? It looks like a good cigar and had a great burn looking at your pic.

Damn, Jonathan Drew has a beard going... I guess he is used to the Nicaragua heat by now! LOL

Hey Ryan! Yeah, had a blast. The Art Deco was awesome. It had a razor burn, and ash that was white all the way through! Tremendous flavor. So far, three of my favorite cigars that I smoked from the show, were the Art Deco, the La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor (Mexican Wrapper), and the La Sirena (Connecticut Broadleaf). All three of these cigars come from Pepin's My Father Cigars factory.

There are a few small company Nicaraguan cigars that I am anxious to try. One that I did try, and really liked, was Elogio. They are made in a small factory in Esteli, just around the corner from Los Arcos hotel.

Good stuff Jere... yeah I'm looking forward to the La Aroma with the mexican wrapper as I really like the Murcielago.

Where did you hear the Art Deco has Pelo D' Oro? Miami Cigar Co sent out a release prior to the show saying that but Janny Garcia posted here a few days ago saying there is NO Pelo D' Oro in this cigar and that she contacted them to make the correction. Were they promoting this at the show? If so... wow.

Janny's post #6 in the thread:

"This information is incorrect. That blend DOES NOT have Pelo de Oro. The quantity of Pelo de Oro that we have in inventory is very little and it's reserved exclusively for two new projects that are coming in the future. I've spoken with Miami Cigar regarding this mistake."

If that is the case, then the box or flyer (I can't recall which) says it wrong. I saw something there that said 60% Pelo de Oro.

However, what is also interesting about this cigar is that it is 60% Nicaraguan and 40% Dominican. First time that they have used Dominican tobaccos. I guess Nester wanted to get Pepin out of his comfort zone.
